IMO treating the weed with this dye is not fullproof as not all lakes are the same, any chemical put into something natural must have some effect (lets hope not). Knotford is one of the best lakes in yorkshire if not the best so why jeopardize that with dye's and restocking programmes when there's plenty of fish to go at. Knotford is a big fish water and should be treated like one and should be left as natural as possible, I for one dont want to be sat in purpose built swims with pristine paths going all the way round. I like it the way it is now with natural banks and overgrown, and everyone iv'e spoken to says the same.

Dans alright, anyone who puts up with as much micky taking as he does is alright in my book Plus as Tony says - he puts a lot of work in making the lake clean and tidy for everyone else to enjoy. However he needs to learn that he can't make a brew when he doesn't take any gas....milk....sugar....tea bags....water...... or when he breaks his stove etc. I reckon he thinks it is bailiffs priviliges to get free brews

It is a balilff's right to get free brews...isn't it?! lol.
I've seen the error of my ways from your constant whinging last year, Rich. This year will be different. I'll WILL have all the appropriate tea making equipment with me. You just need to decide when you're going to be fishing with me, and not constantly driving up and down the A1 bream fishing ;D

I know Dan, have fished with him and seen him baliff the lake on a regular basis. He does sometimes get a little carried away with talking about the lake but he only wants what is best for the place, isn't that what we all want too?
Rules are in place for one reason and that is for reasons to the club, whether that be baitboats, wading or boating on the lakes in general, all for the safety and well being of the anglers and lakes themselves.
Dan spends nights at the lake after work clearing the rubbish left by others, why should anyone give him any grief for doing that? He comes and speaks to you about wading or anyone else about anything else, so what? You know you shouldnt do it so why bother?
The lake is being spoilt by the minority, my opinion. It is a cracking venue and should be left to its own devices whether that be weed growth or fish stocks.

As someone who's fished Knotford since 1975 I suppose I've a right to be a bit miffed (to put it mildly). I've put up with the night permit on the grounds that at least you've now got some control over who night fishes ( ), but when I arrive for a spot of fishing and find the lake looking like a swimming pool I it does rather ruin my day. Just a few points: This product is primarily an algae inhibitor. Whilst it's absorbption of UV will inhibit plant growth it can only be a temporary solution. Please don't tell me that this is going to be an annual occurence. We're now stuck with a gradually decreasing colour for at least 3 months. I, for one, will not be happy about this. If I wanted to fish a blue pond I'd fish Ilkley Lido. I know the club is on a hiding to nothing when it comes to waters like this, but it really needs to decide what it wants with Knotford. It has 2 choices: do nothing and let the water go through the cycles it always has and accept gradual eutrophication; actively manage it, maintaning a good level of colour in the water. My own choice is to leave it, but I can cope with active management. What I have problems with is half measures that are really nothing better than peeing money up against a wall. And if the guy from Dyofix wants to debate the effects of weed growth on large waters then please feel free, but don't patronise me with crap like you spouted earlier.

why are the club stocking knotford anyways , when the fish they stocked 5-6 years ago are coming on a treat
theres enough small carp in there all ready, and if the match anglers were willing to put the time and effort in im sure they would catch bream, tench, and perch
but iff there just after a keepnet full of 5 pound carp why dont you off up the road and fish no go bye
its a beautiful lake with plenty of fish of all species , i will be fishing for tench, perch and carp this year and am confident i will catch a few decent fish so instead of arguing about weed and stocking the place maybe you want to concentrate on some other matters else where because i cant think of anything in need of changing down knotford
