oh one more point while im ranting man made structures are not all bad for our rivers take the tees barrage before that went in the tees around stockton was more or less dead not to mention d**n unsightly when the tide was out now 17 years later large shoals of bream are resident around the town not to mention carp being caught to 23lb on the right day 100lb of bream is possible these days thanks to the intervention of man Your not wrong about the tees. I fish it every other week or so, a massive success story. The bream shoals are expanding, perch are increasing in size to 4lb, big dace shoals hitting the lower reaches in the winter, I've had pike to 25 lb out of it which are increasing in size and quants because of the increase in baitfish. Just class....I forgot to mention barbel being caught to double figures and biggest tees chub to date of 8lb 4oz. And then the grayling shoals are getting bigger, and being caught lower down the tees year in year out! Ps, what the frigg is all the immature arguing about!

yeh jimlad not to mention the rumours of an 18lb barb from the tees only thing is secrecy makes people sceptical as for jcb mate he likes to give it but im not sure if hes ok taking it firstly we had spessy he was quickly found out to be a bit well lets just say not all there i think old boy jcb may be his father hes an idiot aswel funny how someone can turn a comment about eastern europeans plundering our fish stocks into an argument i mean come on if this is not a matter we all feel strongly about then i dont know tight lines fella

What is really funny is how someone who tars all people from the same nation with the same derogatory brush doesn't regard that as racist. Even sadder are your attempts to pal up with others in a desparate effort for support.

firstly i dont need anyone to back me up im merely asking a question of other forum users secondly i have no doubt that there are people in easter europe who are good decent people so long as they stay in eastern europe and dont take our jobs and fish out of our rivers then thats ok people like you are to blame for the state our country is in your an idiot and now im bored with you so over to you have your last shot ill not bother to reply

Dont believe everything you hear! The Tees barbel record is over 14lb as far as im aware. I have heard rumours and seen the purported picture of an 18lber - unfortunately it looks photoshopped!
The tees barbel are hard to catch, but the average stamp is very large, and close on double figures.

A few facts and thoughts of my own, i posted the link to "end of a river" as a lead into the proposed works at Linton on Ouse. Some might not know or care but the info we have is...... The planning for the generating station has been passed, the power will come from two Caplin Turbines placed at the weir, these are similar to the ones used in the Alpine regions shown on the film, (we cant say the EA wont let it happen because they have) we have been told that high tech screening in front of the turbines will be installed ( maybe similar to that on the film eh!!) I bet the Eels are made up. A license of acceptable fish losses has been issued, this is 100 fish per day including 10 Salmon, puts losses from other sources in to perspective ! maybe the screening is not that high tech. These losses are not seasonal or hit and miss, 100 x 365 days per year, it might not work out like that but, 36,500 fish deaths acceptable ?? Lintons aims are an on line Hydro Power unit connected to the grid, its not a Tees type barrier or barrage. Plans are being submitted for a much smaller version of the barrier type for the River Aire at Knostrop, this will effectively combine the canal and river into a lake upstream and include a fish pass and archimedes screw at the weir. This project will be under the flood defence banner, and anyone thinking that the other regions rivers wont see change "think again" Regards Steve

frim your revelations are not only shocking but devastating i never thought for one minute that something like this would get past the ea after all most but not all of our rivers are cleaner than ever before thus wildlife showing in abundance not all good news for anglers i must admit with regards to your post it was not my intention to highjack it i was merely trying to point out that our fish stocks are under threat from illegal sources ie poaching in the main but not exclusively by eastern europeans the fact that mr gcb takes offence to my post thus turning it into a slanging match well thats life i will always stand up for my principles i cant understand why he seems to hate me though must be my aftershave back to the serious busines i do hope this does not have a negative effect on the river in question
