One rod now, again I have fished two but I find if I use two rods, there are times where I compensate for putting baits in different areas without either rod being necessarily being 'on the money'. On slower, deeper and wider stretches I will go to two for pike fishing One session on the tidal wharfe I had nine barbel fishing two rods, all came to the bottom rod which obviously was in prime position. I have had fish from where the other rod was cast in the past, but just shows, one rod would have caught just as many. Food for thought! Eddie.

Only ever fish one rod - don't like the idea of having to try to deal with two fish & risking getting snagged up or tangled up. Cheers Andy

i nearly always use 2 rods doubles yer chances of catching and after turning my back for a split second at toppy a few year back and turning back just in time to grab the rod but of my downstream rod mid air, this after watching my rod tips till id almost gone bong eyed ( i know im still bong eyed ) the culprit was a barbel of about 2lb since then i check the bait runner is on as it only takes a second to loose a rod

When im carping especially on weedy lakes I have my clutch tight enough so I can pick the rod up and without adjusting the clutch I can play the fish. I find the tighter the better as the fish have the upper hand from the start with a screeming clutch
