Johnboy, you seem to be getting lots of advice. I always used to make my own bait and freeze it. But when going on carp holidays abroad found a shelf life boilie I liked and bought it in bulk, it worked so well I gave up on all the rolling bait and used it at home for the next couple of seasons, so did my friends and we had very good results. I think if you are just going to have a few carp sessions shelf life will be fine and more convenient for you, I use them now for barbel. Trouble is the Chubb won't leave them alone! Now which boilie? That's the question!
Eddie.

Save yourself some time and money and just get some freezers mate, I used to make my own boilies a long while ago now.....but what I do remember is it's a pain in the arse and there's no money to be saved once you account for your labour time.

Year I didn't make many I was just experimenting seeing what smell / flavours worked and yes its messy and hard work better off buy I think, but will be nice to try and see if they catch. I do like other baits as well so we will see.
thanks guys Johnboy

Freezer or freshly rolled for me. There's a great book by john baker where he talks about the benefits of using fresh ingredients and no preservatives. Luckily for me there's a bait company 20 mins from my house! I've re frozen baits many times and don't think it makes them any less effective. I've also had them out of the freezer for over a week and used them, they work well when they start to smell a bit funky! I'm not saying this will work with all flavours but it's worth a try. Find a bait that works for you and stick with it, you'll soon get your confidence up.
