for those that do wish to buy it, tesco and sainsbury both sell the garlic spam , bigger stores anyway Looked for the garlic spam at tesco and asda, morrisons not come across any yet or black pepper for that matter the tesco at Batley and the one in seacroft both stock garlic spam, well did 2 weeks ago, will look next time for any other flavours, and the sainsburys at the white rose center sell the garlic as well. and both list it on their web site for home delivery.

Just got back from a Rushy hour and a half session which resulted in one Barb and a nice Chub . . . Guess what bait . Yup, black pepper spam I had half a tin left in the fridge so thought I would give it a go. The outer top edge had fridge burn but it actually worked very well for hooking being a lot tougher Tesco Seacroft tomorrow night after doing Mams garden . . Spam stock report to follow

I tried red herring once apparently its a good bait You should give the mussel another go for the barbel Dave i am sure It will work I had a chub on it at pool bridge last winter along with around 6lb of decent roach on a cold frosty day. However I feed quite heavily with finely chopped mussel and fish thingyles on the hook It works well even In the cold weather had bream, roach, chub , crucians and tench on it when more traditional offerings hardly mustered a bite. Not had as much joy fishing it on the tip seems best fished under a float although you can fish mussel or thingyles on a bait band using one of those four pronged pellet banders perfect presentation for a barbel on the tip. I have edited this post about six times apparently thingyles and mussels alive alive o must be a rude word kockles? ahhhh kockles Is ok but not with a C strange but true

Nice haul Dave , better investment than gold , keep it a few months untill the supermarket stocks dry up then bang it on ebay at a £5 a pop. You don't need it either , I reckon you could catch barbel on a bare hook at the moment.

So have chucked a couple of tins in the rucksack. Probably save it for a rainy day, well as kpkh says when the water is up and coloured, that's a good time to go in with a big stinky bait! Eddie.

. No black pepper though You'll definitely find it in Poundland, Poundworld, Home Bargains, Pound Bargains, Pound Galaxy, Pound Earth, Pound Country, Pound Continent, Pound Cosmos, Pound Universe, Pound Solar System, etc. I'm still gutted that Poundland bought out 99p Stores the other year. Just couldn't stand being undercut, the over-charging b*stards.
