Not a lot to report from today's trip to the nidd , apart from my usual chublet/dace/gudgeon and stripey bashing performance. And a great walk round most of the length checking out some swims for the next venture. All was quiet on the barbel front even though the river was in good fettle. But things can only get better.
Packed up and back to the car to wait for my buddy....what's going on loads of cars in the layby but they're not anglers just single men one in each car most on the phone. No canines no ladies no fishing tackle in sight.
I knew about the dodgy reputation regarding the layby but I didn't think it would be so blatant. Not a place I would like to be after dark !
I'm not keen on gardening especially the uphill variety !

Fat chance of taking a 20 tonne truck across the field now the autumn rains are arriving, that's as apposed to the summer rains lol, but the ground is soft now! Can't see them risking it, especially as it was one of the reasons it wasn't done earlier in the year, when the ground was in fact very firm! Eddie.

The dodgy blokes don't worry me I just don't like people lurking around suspiciously especially when I have my tackle in the car. On the access front I had a good walk of the length yesterday and the cobbles under the railway bridge don't need too much improvement,I would be happy to go over them even as they are. We just need access through the horsefield and a small fenced off compound to keep the nags off the cars.
Until this happens the pegs cleared in May will just get worse sadly. It would be handy if the jolly boys in the layby got their kicks by frolicking in high balsam.
Regards Mick.

Ha! you must have been under your brolly in the swim near the bridge!
The above is a revelation! (Skip Bridge dodgy boys)....had I have known, I would not have extricated myself from my wet trousers, whilst hopping up and down the lane in my Marks and Spencer best trying to get my boots off at the same time!
From what you say, I may now be being shown as a voyeurs dream somewhere on the "dark web" via mp4.
I trust the car park shall be key entry only to avoid the frolicking hordes of Gimp Masked tackle grabbers nicking all the parking spaces! :-)

That layby is a known homo dogging spot, don't be risking changing out your wet gear, drive home wet, you've been warned, ever seen Pulp Fiction, some of them bring a gimp.

Unfortunately Frim , who is organising the car park has been in the LGI rather than fishing recently and when he mentioned to me last week about doing the car park in the next month he probably didn't know the heavens were about to open big time We shall see. How do you stop this stuff growing ? I wonder how much of a job it would be to put a " screed path " or similar down to obliterate it We can't let it beat us there were Barbel coming out in good numbers the weeks after we did it

homo dogging spot!!! In that case...there is only one thing for it!
I shall load an old squeezy bottle up with thinly diluted MONSTER CRAB flavour to fend the "funny fella's" off should they be driven to a frenzy by my M & S y-fronts....pulled up almost to chest level to keep out the evening chills!
It was once so simple!....you just went fishing!
To hear that I may now be pursued around the horse field by "the village people" is rather disturbing!
I demand that the new weed growth be left totally intact, should I have to take evasive action from those gentlemen who "bat for the other side!" :-)
