Making fishing into reality tv, doesn't work for me. But does fishing work on tv, not very often. Notice the first guy voted off "Geoff" was knocking on a bit, had a goatee, upset fellow anglers and had poor fly casting techniques, mmmm! Eddie lol. Creative editing according to Geoff and his poor casting technique is down to an old elbow injury (nerve damage) resulting from being struck by a van many years ago. Maybe if he'd had t*ts (surely required in the upcoming tropical episodes) or been the program's token muslim he'd have done better

Got to say I stuck with it and watched the second one and it was ok for Sunday evening viewing and if it takes off maybe a better class of angler will apply and get through next year . Can't believe that Asian lad kept losing fish because his knots kept failing and he had to superglue them, but the women surprised me especially That old girl, she can catch fish .I'll have a pound each way on her to win .Me and her indoors are hoping to go to Cuba for our 50th the year after next and I'm hoping to fish in the bay of pigs but not on an inner tube ,crazy ! . I'm converted ,it's fishing on the telly I'm in . I wish Matt Hayes would get that tusk sorted with all the millions he's got though Its the other presenter that winds me up with his "reality tv " pausing speech. It reminds me of someone elses speech style but I can't think who it is ............ Gordon Ramsey maybe ?

Its a bit worrying that no bigger names were up for presenting it ,He's the original realty TVs contestant if I remember rightly wasn't he one of the castaways that spent a year on a Scottish island in the millennium . Hope they give it a good chance and don't bin it after one series it might make a good show in the long run with a bit of tweaking . Ben Fogle. Taransay island. Eddie.

Well I've waited a bit but now feel ready to comment on the series now it is in Costa Rica. What a range of techniques they have had to use with many blanks involved, and for Dan to catch that sailfish and release it after tagging it for conservation was a highlight. Jo as the only female left has clearly shown that technique is far superior to strength. Guys I have introduced to fly fishing usually have difficulty with this concept and are the equivalent of all fingers and thumbs - they don't seem to have a 'feel' for it as much as Jo shows on the programme. The best of it is that my wife likes watching it and she has rarely fished !! Good first effort for this programme.

Obviously they should have portrayed a truer picture of angling; they really have missed an opportunity - what they needed was a bunch of middle aged white guys who spend most of their time moaning about otters , moaning that fings ain't what they used to be and failing to catch a few chub from the Wharfe. Must see telly eh ?

I've had to Google irony today and evidently it's a good friend of sarcasm but not as tough " I was born ironic " just doesn't sound right By the way , I've still got all the fishing programmes on the planner but they could be up,for the delete button . . That Ben Fogel is too much for me . . And to make matters worse he's appearing all over the bloody tele now

I most admit its prompted me to get back into fly fishing,
saying that watching it over the weeks I don't think it would teach us Anglers much I think most of it as just been common sense techniques wise.

It's a bit like that alanis morrisette song Dave ( isn't it sarcastic ) wouldn't sound right . For me if its fishing and it's on telly I'll watch it if it isn't dreadful and it's ok and it might catch on and get better but they have made another reality show about potters wheel clay modelling now so if that gets better ratings the fishing one will get binned . Give it a try Dave and turn the sound down if you can't get on with posh lad .. Reality tv show on potters wheel clay modelling . . . Please don't tell me you are watching that Chris
