Your right mick the best way to have made this forum better would have been a members only forum that way fools who are not leeds members could not post ie topcliffe + goofy plus improve on a couple of things but seems that powers to be are not happy with the forum so be it

CAN I GIVE AN UPDATE ON THE NEW WEBSITE;
WE WERE ORIGINALLY INFORMED THAT FORUMS WERE 'OLD HAT' AND THE WAY FORWARD WAS FACEBOOK AND TWITTER SO THAT IS THE ROUTE WE HAVE FOLLOWED AND THE SITE IS READY TO GO IN THAT RESPECT BUT NOT AS FAR PRESENTATION AND VENUES IS CONCERNED SO GOING LIVE AT THIS TIME IS NOT AN OPTION.
HOWEVER AFTER A FEW PHONE CALLS AND THE INFO SUPPLIED ON THIS THREAD WE NEED TO RECONSIDER RETAINING THE FORUM ON A MEMBERS ONLY BASIS AND I WILL CONSULT WITH OUR DESIGN COMPANY NEXT WEEK
REGARDS
GRAHAM

A properly administered forum should be kept, not everyone wants to be on or use Facetwitterbook. It may be useful to have a link to Leeds ASA on Facebook to attract new members and promote the fabulous fishing we have. The amount of good information on here is really useful and goes back several years. The humour is great and it's always enjoyable to see whose catching fish and with what methods and tactics. I do support the logic of having the forum for members only, it is after all for Leeds ASA anglers to benefit from the information sharing regarding our waters.

Well done Graham, a common sense solution! Really glad to hear the forum isn't dead and buried.
Eddie.

I was in bradfordno1 website for years until it went sour, some top blokes made up another forum (West Yorkshire Angling) for selected people to join, can I just say it was the best move every great guys, great banter and great fishing topics.

I will echo Chris's comments. I don't use twitter book (or intend to). The only sensible way forward is for a members only forum. Cheers Andy

Could not agree more with the posted comments. The effort that has gone into creating interest and growth and new friendships can be biffed with one ill thought action. I respect you Graham for listening to the views of the forum users.

Hi, not been on here long, lot of venues bit far for me, but have got plenty of info when i do want to go further afield. Thats plus info on those nearer to me.
Facebook OK (to read, not give personal details out), but never beat a Forum, for groups/ group discussions. Plus finding specific Info on Facebook, is Carp. Banters Carp on Facebook overall IMO. Facebook won't stop arguments etc etc, thats for sure. Example, theres been more big arguments on PAC Facebook site, than on the members only forum. PAC forum ain't the liveliest, prob because you have go by your real names.
Nowt wrong with locked forums (member of a few). But if needed, only Admins etc, should know peeps real names.
OK you can get a bit of aggro at times(mild on here), but as said, bet this forums as sold a few year books.
Cheers Bob

As ever avin is out of touch - bless him! I do use twitter and facebook though avin would never be a friend and as a member of the club I think members only is the way forward As I said before also make it compulsory for your full name to be used.

Hi, Full name to be used, will certainly make Internet savvy peeps, less likely to post. Plus better behave (or even not), if you don't want a brick etc, through your window. Or maybe someone will spoof you on say, another forum, & make your name sh*t. Just happened on a forum, were a guys had to explain, he ain't a racist. Real names on that forum, but racism happened on a similar forum, were even thou not complete real name as such used, looked like it was him. Plus ya can lock down a forum, & non desirables, spammers etc, will get on it. Hope your Gaffer don't join up also. Internets for life. Been on forums were its happened, peeps giving out or using there real names. My neice on Facebook when younger, got copied on Facebook. Police got involved, turned out it was a class mate, who had a bit of a fixation, wanted to be like her. Personally not been on forum long, but read a lot of good stuff etc. Its a very very mild forum. Some forums are Toppers & not idiot Forums. Your jumped on if you say owt. Young or old, intelligence etc, makes no dam difference.
Cheers Bob

If you had been with us a little longer Bob you would know that up to last week my full name appeared under my avatar on every post. Feel free to take a look at my fishing blog at gcblakesley.blogspot.co.uk. I have just reinstated it just for you.
Bradford City AA use facebook in addition to a forum and it works very well. The big advantage I find with facebook is that you can drop photos straight into a facebook page without going through photobucket first. They also have facebook pages for single interest groups such as their stillwater at Shipton. You can also decide whether the pages can be viewed openly or just to 'friends'. You can also 'unfriend' somebody if they are not behaving themselves!
Cheers Geoff
