Moor Monkton Ponds are ALL closed, Posted to avoid a Wasted trip wish they had told me before I got there I put it on here the same night we voted to close them, it's on the anglers club board under the Moor Monkton closed thread, also on facebook and in the evening post. Sorry you had a wasted trip, the more we get the word out the better! Eddie.

Well now they're open we have just rammed some more fish in them.
Why oh to boost the ego's of visiting matchmen who need to stuff 100lb of fish into nets for hours on end that's why.
Ridiculous.
Mick.

You've summed it up nicely Dave but unfortunately it's not funny. It's just wrong.

a bit too soon if gone in the front lake I hope not,
too many fish in a pond no wonder they don't survive, wont need any hooks to catch them next year they`ll be eating out of my hand.

Can someone at the club explain the reasons to stock more fish in an already overcrowded pond ?

" In my opinion " my serious hook a duck analogy sums it up,perfectly. Today's commercial match angler wants to catch fish and catch them regularly. They don't want to be sat there as in the good old days , experimenting with shotting patterns, hook length strengths and size 22 hooks , working for a bite. They want instant action and they also want to struggle to lift the net out at the weigh in . . . Each to their own I suppose Is it right that we stock our MMP with Kamikaze trout to keep, the match anglers and their peg money from going elsewhere . . . That' again is down to each individual's opinion as to why we bought MMP , Was it for the members or was it as a money generating scheme. By the way, the trout are not being put in the front lake.

As the only one from the 'club' who would normally give you an answer on this occasion I am not prepared to
I have my own views on why it has been done and at this time I will keep them to myself
I have not been consulted on this and the I only found out when the supplier contacted me about payment
Moor Monkton Pools in my view was bought for the total membership to enjoy and as a investment for the club, good investments are not always viewed in money terms, this investment is surely in land and water/stock and an investment in the future membership.
Maybe I got it wrong in suggesting the members permit, maybe members should fish free of charge, non members pay a day ticket and everyone pays a match peg fee!!
Regards Graham

Thanks for the reply Graham - I think i understand your stance. But what bothers me as much as anything is the lack of respect for the fish as living entities & the undemocratic way that the stocking seems to have been approved / actioned. Cheers Andy

Hi Graham,
that's sounds good we own the pond so why do we after pay extra to fish it, but saying that I don't mined paying £10 a year to fish if the money goes to good use (not for buying trout for match men.
if it was my fishery 1. the front lake would have a mixture of fish up to doubled figures 2. cyprio lake again a mixture of fish with a few of bigger Carp, Tench, Bream ect 3. the match lake to do with what you wish, to please the match guys
how many other clubs after pay to fish there own ponds, I`d rather pay £10 / £15 a year than not fish it at all
just my opinion JB.

Where is the money going ? It does seem a bit ridiculous to charge us again to fish one of our own waters. Are we, the occaissional pleasure anglers, subsidising the stocking of fish for the match men ? Cynical maybe but what other explanation is there ??
