Can the chap who runs the dye company let us know how long does this dye take to fade? The visability is attrocous at the moment making spotting fish a nightmare. Last year you could get up in the trees and not only see the fish but also the big clear spots, but at the minute you a struggling to see the bottom in any more than 2-3 foot of water.
It used to be mint sitting in the trees on the tree line bank watching carp and tench mooching about among the branches in their little safe haven.
Is it a question of a few weeks or a few months before the water will be clear again? I know he mnetioned that rainwater will dilute it, however there has been a fair amount of rain of late and the water is still bright blue.

I know the lads that fish knotford tend not to broadcast their catches, but since the dye went in the lake, have your catches deteriated? There has been no posts saying so,god forbid catches may have actually improved. What exactley is been caught at knotford since the dye was introduced

Mr K I know you have read my explanation to the forum, reply 36 page 3 of this thread, I tried my best not to miss anything. Steve. Left taken after 10 days, right just before applying dye If Leeds are to blame for the thread heading by the above colour and stocking the smaller carp to back up existing stocks, then a few of you want to look in a mirror or at least try and justify your own actions "we do" Ready meals, boily bags, and a few turds, all very natural. Don't like the water colour but this is OK. Hypocrites. Anyone with a bona fide question about future plans for Knotford just ask. Regards Steve Fearnley

What a fun job Craig and I had clearing that lot up last year, Steve...not.
It took at least 6 rubble sacks to clear that lot.
I agree with your comments Steve about how some leave the state of the place...

Dear Frim
I've fished Knotford for the last 10 years or so. I'm not happy that the dye has been put in and would prefer that the lake was left alone to be honest. However I think I understand the reasons for the club doing this, and the stocking of more carp, although I don't agree with them.
Your points about the litter are fair enough and anyone who leaves litter behind should be ashamed of themselves.
Can you please tell me what the plans are for the future of the water?

Frim (Steve) I salute you I recon you are on your way to the REAL problems. Your pic's speak a thousand words. No blue stuff needed It's something that should controle itself. (weed and alge) The drip feed of new carp can only be good, if they don't spawn naturaly they tend to dissapear. (kill the weed and they will struggle to spawn or find the same amount of food they are used to finding) You still have the problem of numptys filling it in with bait though, so keep stocking Hybread vigour works even between "strains" of the same fish. Thanks for the reply

Steve, Just as an afterthought, would it not make it easyer for the numpty litter leavers within our ranks to leave litter if you make the fishing easy? I recon it's best to keep such sorts were you can keep an eye on them? A place monitored by careing anglers? (kippax perchance) Sorry

"I recon it's best to keep such sorts were you can keep an eye on them? A place monitored by careing anglers? (kippax perchance)"
Knotford is fished/monitored by careing anglers (well the bulk of the guys anyway) Mr. K.
All they want is what's best for the water, like I do.
I think that, unfortunately, the minority spoil it for the majority, but how do you get a certain type of angler (litter bugs) to fish certain waters that have more of a watchful eye.
I think the only real way is to ban the "bugs"...education is the way forward

Gaptooth Fair comment's mate, as you know we have started a fair bit of work in the past season mainly securing our owned venues, Polo ponds perimeter fence is due to start and when finished, ideas for Knotford would be welcome. Nothing's set in stone at the moment but our thoughts are leaning towards ripping out the iron mongery on your way in, sorting out the drive and carpark "resurfacing" and new locking double gates just in from the roadside. Personally I would like to see the land and carpark members only but that would have to be sorted at the AGM. As far as the stocking goes I think it needs leaving alone for a few years and lets see how things go. The new Environment Agency regulations regarding stocking into flood plains will stop any restocking of other species. Plans for establishing paths and ready made pegs have never got past stage one and i think are a total no no. We are looking into re- establishing the small pond at the top of the east bank, nothing elaborate or sinister just ensuring it doesn't disappear, if it does you have to get planing permission to get it back! Any thoughts? Steve
