If the screws are anything like the ones at Linton falls on the Wharfe, they'll certainly ruin the peace and quiet.

It's the silting and reduced flow directly downstream you need to worry about. My honest opinion is that this will advert affect the fishing...

I don't know about reduced flow downstream Jimlad, the water seems to come out of the screws as fast as it doe sgoing in and with a lot more turbulence.

hi guys,to keep you in the picture, the hydro people have worked with us throughout, its been to the delegates who in there wisdom left it up to the trustees to get on with it,thats what we are doing, the whole plan includes a road to the wier,r/bank and a car park area for our members to park in on the bank next to the wier, and a new fishpass .the income for the lecy is expected to be over £10,000 per year,in a time when we are looking at giving waters up this is not to be sniffed at,the only problem we could forsee was at times of low water the flow over the wier would slow down, but a screen is to been fitted above the screws that cuts the water off to them if the river flow drops too low, this last year it would not have happened at all,the screws run at 22 r,p,m. and the water comes out at walking pace, slow walking place, the guys that run uk hydro are anglers and do understand the needs of a river, the hydro plant at linton on ouse went in with no consultation with us as its not on our land ,this one is and we have been in the picture throughout.stan..

Thanks stan, my fear was that this was proposed with your prior knowledge, so I'm glad this isn't the case

"I think someone needs to inspect the proposals." i,ll nominate rushy Leave it with me - I'll get my Fathers for Justice Batman suit on and I'll be up the Yorkshire Evening Post building first thing Monday morning after I've been to the doctors about my ingrowing toenail. Can someone bring me a sarny and a flask of tea about 1pm. A few words of encouragement wouldn't go amiss as well as it will probably be cold up there ;D Didn't get up the YEP building guys sorry - didn't want to blow my cover ;D news.sky.com/story/1059826/bradford-batman-hands-suspect-in-to-police
