I live in Middlesbrough and have been to check out half the river streches on the Leeds book. If u join a club such as the Leeds i think its worth going to each strech even for just a single visit as u would never know the true rating of them,i visited all the wharf streches in March with a couple of friends and it will pay off in the future for sure. For example the Poole strech looked one of the ideal Barbel runs i've ever seen, continuos gravel bottom start to finnish,3 island features, fast running glides, deep pools.over hanging trees, even has a couple of becks/streams flowing into it! How wrong was I! After speaking to 4or 5 anglers and a few locals i could not believe what they all said, apparently no Barbel have been caught for a while, like 2 or 3 years. Plenty of Chub but no Barbel! I recon Barbel are present, the strech is unfished so no anglers have recent stories to tell. This made me relise best go check these streches out for myself.

Brad I know of no consistent catches of barbel above the harewood bridge. The area is fished my friend but by all means go check. It would be a real reward compared to swale barbel!

I live in Bradford upon Bennefits, and like to keep fairly local, well within 30 miles of fishing destinations.

i know the place harry, and yes very welcoming.i mainly stay at bewdley,so not far to travel between the venues, but an absolute splendid waterway and rate it highly.
ive not yet failed to catch, not fish to break records, but on my last visit you could have walked across the bules.my methods changed quite a lot and fish there as i do here early season with caster and hemp approach and leave the pellet at home.
ideal bait fridges and local tackle shops makes for a lovely wk'end away.
