I fished rainbow for a few hours the other day and also struggled Dave. Not put off though, think when it warms up it will fish well, I'd be happy catching Rudd like that! Looks good for the future

Hi Dave Thanks for your support, did you have any joy at all on 'Rainbow' I walked round this morning and saw some action by way of fish rising or moving in the edge, coloured water where fish have been etc.
Regards Graham

Hi Graham
I lost a really good fish on about peg 6 on method which did me in the weed unfortunately .Switched to maggot feeder and got a couple of bites but missed them both .I did see a roach about about three times swim past my feet but didnt see any rises but like carl said above i am really looking forward to fishing rainbow lake when water warms up .Might try wag next time and feed via catty as probably too cold for method at moment .Good thing on the back bank the wind comes over your head so a little warmer than some other areas .
See you soon Graham

Weather seems to be turning and a few more hands are giving us the final push on the platforms. The posts are nearly all in. Post knocker finished off with gert hammer. If Clarkies a good lad we let him have a turn with the saw ;D Most of one side is finished, normal platforms. Some disabled platforms with handrails. We have let the water drop to make it easier to work, the finished water level will be up to the bottom bearer of the platform frame. All materials on platforms are recycled plastics, 4" posts that are all in a minimum of 3ft. 5"x2" bearers . and the planking has been slip tested at Southampton University and gave the best results of any tested. Progress. Even more giving a hand now and tops ready to go on. Last of the disabled pegs. We have built double size stands for parent's to sit with kids, one at each end of lake. When we bring level back up, anglers will be about 8" above water. Stands should be finished completely for this Monday, we will then start on paths and walkways to pegs.

New lake looking great mate .I wouldnt like to guess how many man hours must have gone into putting the stands in ,but all credit to you all after walking round today .Also had a few hours on wag and mag on Rainbow lake and it was a pleasure to sit there with sun on you and float went under a few times as well .If anyone wants to fill a few hours when rivers close give it a go on Rianbow you should now get a few bites .

Cheers Dave, We made the last cut and put the last screw in on Friday so are a day in front of where we expected to be. The hours are not bad when its sunny, but it was a bit grim knocking post's through the ice. I have sorted a mini digger and dumper for this week so hopefully we should get the paths to the stands finished this week then finish the planting and get the level back up and let it settle for a couple of months. I've got a feeling that the old trout lake will be a success looking at the way its fishing now to say its still only mid March, did you notice that it has started to colour up? if thats down to the fish moving its a good sign and as it gets more colour should hold back the weed. Nice to see a few can now use proper methods and catch a fish. Opposite second island on a maggie feeder. That had a big paddle on it and could end up a big fish it was weighed at 9.2 This fella turned up and did me for his ticket money (have you got change for a hundred pound note) ;D roll on summer.

Two islands, two deep channels, more weed and banks of rushes than you can shake a stick at "how many features do you want"

I'm thinking about having ago on rainbow tomoz, are we allowed two rods on theer? I hope so, i like to put a carp rod out on an alarm just for a bonus fish, and then fish with my waggler or feeder rod. Looking forward to a reply about this. Daz.

Hi Daz
Not sure about the 2 rods Job mate .However just fish a wagg on drop on peg behind cabin somewhere and drip feed maggot over top around 4 rod rod length out and you should have a good day .Might take 45 mins to start getting bites but then you should catch also good chance of a carp making an appearance .They do pull a bit when they do
Let us know how you go on
Dave
