Shane - I remember last week you complaining to me that your lovely wife always said things were smaller than they actually are, so I reckon I can count that as a double ;D ;D There's obviously only one solution - I'll have to go catch her again and hope she's managed to snaffle an Otter or two in the meantime

A healthy gut, hard to say really but looks like it should be a double.

it'll take some beating, a pb that you don't know the weight of .. there's a well known anglers saying that applies here i'm afraid " if you don't weigh it ,you can't say it " how can you ever be sure of the weight .nice pike though !

Get real, it's Dave's first pike, it's got to be his personal best, people take things too seriously don't they Rushy. Going to try for one at Asenby today, have to remember my camera, tripod, scales, mat, sling, I'll get the wheelbarrow out of the shed to carry it all.

I'm not having a dig c0cky ,what if the next one was about the same size.which ones gunna be a Pb .and weighing fish is a serious thing to us that do it right .but if you want to guess the size of your fish that's OK as well. to a serious specimen angler every ounce counts .maybe all your fish are doubles pet but till you get your eyes calibrated you will never know.carrying a unhooking mat if you are expecting to catch big fish shows you care about the welfare of our fish as well pet xx..

Hi Springer Unlike some on the forum I don't take things to heart and I know your'e not having a dig, just commenting on my post. I am not a specimen angler, in fact I'm just happy to catch anything. I like to move swims a lot during a days fishing so don't carry a lot of gear with me and over the course of 50 odd years fishing I've found that a towel laid on soft grass protects the odd good sized fish that I get. As for weighing, I got given some cheap scales a while back and used them four or five times weighing fish in my net and then forgot about them. Handling and protection of what we catch is very important, using barbless hooks and using a landing net for any but the smallest fishto save lip damage for example. The biggest group of anglers with unsound methods appear to be match anglers on lakes who seem to have forgotten about the fish and see them as a commodity, just see the pictures in the angling papers of nets full of fish piled on top of each other in keepnets on the bank with a smiling angler behind them, but I suppose this is big business for some. ( I suppose I'll have to look out for flying ledger weieghts off the match anglers now). Hope I haven't offended anyone, but if I have ,well thats the way it goes.
Anyway, Rushy I got 4 very nice grayling just above the island at Asenby yesterday on maggot feeder, all over a pound by my uncalibrated eye LOL
