I fished knotford late may early june and it was almost inpossible to get round the lake because of the somme like conditions created by the horses. Whoever allowed this to happen should be sent packing from the club - whoever they are, as they obviously don.t have the fee paying members in mind.

We also allowed a group of hard working guys to build a fence and they also made it look like the somme because of the amount of rain, another mistake, sorry Geoff, must stop making these mistakes!!

gcb, can ask you why you only seem to come on the site to cause controversy ? and knit pick at almost everything people say, maybe you should wind your neck in from time to time and stop the total bollox and use the site for what it was meant for, why don't you log onto loose women site probably be more at home there...

I like to wind people like you up- that can only debate by reverting to swearing. I also like to see people with only the most tenuous grasp of our language struggle with spelling, punctuation and grammar. I do like seeing your responses though so keep trying.

Don't want to get into any handbags at Knotford, but just a couple of points of fact. FACT 1 - I fished Knotford quite a few times at the time of the "quagmire" and it WAS predominantly caused by the horses. They were roaming around the lake and the top right hand side was almost a foot deep in boot sucking mud. FACT 2 - The guys that put the fence up in their own time and for the benefit of all members have done a fantastic job and should be commended Back to you - ding ding - Round 2

rushy i was one of the guys that put the fence up around knotford lagoon, and i will tell you exactly why its like a quagmire in most places. Its because there is hardly any topsoil on the east bank where the road was created some years ago to build the island opposite the car park. To be able to build the island, a temporary road had to be put in so the wagons could obviously drive up the side of the lake to release there loads. Once this work was completed it was then covered with topsoil and probably seeded, it was then only to be used by anglers walking with there various amounts of gear, now on this bank there is only 10"-12" of soil before you it solid hardcore which over the years becomes very compacted and goes as hard as concrete. hence no drainage from rainfall as its hardly anywhere to go. As for the car park side and the water works bank as you may have noticed looking at the fence that I tried to dig a trench with a 3tonne machine and struggled beyond belief because of the amount of bricks concrete and gravel on what was once surprisingly enough was a gravel mine, that's the main reason why the land around the lake is so wet because the last time i looked water does not soak through bricks, stones, concrete etc. thank you for kind words on erection of fence.

Well lads sorry about all the fuss i seem to have started, all i really want to no is who from the club authorized the horses to be put on the lake to start with, because i cant see wot benefit to the club the horses are or am i missing something ?( unless you grow roses of course then your laughing) or does the club gets paid a rent of some sort for the use of the clubs land ? well someone must have authorized it surely the committee would not just sit back and let this happen would they ?

I've over 12 tons of soil clay sandstone gear that I dug by hand from footings in my extension,,, Leeds is more than welcome to it,,, all we need is a pickup truck,, and a few willing souls to help move it,,, I'd be more than happy to put the graft in to load unload it and Evan whacker plate it up for you boys,,, Not a member of Leeds YET but I've noticed a few good waters and all the lads seem to be getting Leeds books these days,,, and for what your book costs I'd be daft not to hope this helps Also the otter fence wow when I peer over from bradfords Knotford and look at your fence I think job well done And this fence was done by volunteers ??
