Hi all
As the season is moving fast and there is only a few more months left, thought I would post a few ideas for next season.
MATCHES
We did have a couple of matches but these turned into socials as there wasn't really a big enough turnout to warrant a match. They actually turned into great days out allowing everyone to have a fish, have a wander and a natter rather than the pressure of plugging away in the same 20 yards of swim. As our rivers are not what they used to be and Forum AC members are not really keen match anglers I think this may be the way forward for the future. It is proposed that we arrange a few social outings on Saturday or Sunday and try some of the venues you would not normally fish. I must admit , I've personally been going to try Skipton On Swale all season but still haven't got there as the thought of tackling it alone is a bit daunting. Now if there were half a dozen or so of us meeting up there one Saturday or Sunday with a bit of banter and a pint at the end throw in , it suddenly seems a more attractive proposition !!
HUNTERS LODGE / LINTON ON OUSE
Having said that , we had a good little match at the back end of last year at Hunters and I quite fancy another knock up in October if anyone else fancies it. Please let me know and I will book it with the Match Secretary (or Graham Park )
PIKE OUTING
We also had a good day out at Thorp Underwood last season where we managed to catch the square root of bugger all - apart from Geoff having his lamprey snaffled by a cracking Chub. Perhaps another outing in November on the Ouse or another of our many waters. Preferably one with some hungry Pike in
BANK MAINTENANCE
As you are probably aware, a lot of work has already gone in on the Nidd and hopefully we can get a few lads together a bit later in the year to go continue this work. Digging a few pegs out , clearing old barbed wire etc. Obviously this will be a lot easier once Mortias and Stormchasers friend the Himalayan Balsam has died !!
2015 YEARBOOKS AND SUBS
Yearbooks are required from 1st January so it won't be long before you have to dip your hands in your pockets. Best do it before Santa calls or the kids and Grandkids will have it away !! Those of you that still own a cheque book can just send me a cheque again and those of you that trusted me with used pound notes can do the same again. I'm actually waiting for a reply from paypal to see if it is possible to transfer money via this method without incurring any charges.
SUBS
We started the club with a nominal £5 subscription to cover club enrolment - match booking fees - postage and as a general kitty. I'm waiting for the Forum AC Treasurer to come back from Barbados to tell us exactly how much we've got left in the kitty. As we don't intend having regular matches and I can now have the yearbooks sent direct there is no real need to have an annual subscription so I am therefore proposing that existing members just pay for their yearbooks.
As the existing members have already paid the fiver I think it is only fair that any new members we attract pay a one off fiver as well. My thoughts are we donate this to the Childrens Hospice at Boston Spa but I'm open to other suggestions.
DELEGATES
The club currently has 2 delegates - Eddie and myself.
All the best
