Well we are almost down to the last two weeks of the year and a merry Christmas to everyone by the way. I was wondering how everybody's season has gone. I've enjoyed this year and fished a few new venues, had some pb barbel from an old favorite and match fished for the first time in quite a few years. It's been nice to meet other forum members and forum ac seems to be going from strength to strength, well done rushy with that, looking forward to the next forum outing mate. Funny moments, slipping on the rickety style at hammerton and ending up entangled with the barb wire fence(no harm done), sleeping in and missing a match, oops! And getting battered by Johnboy when I was foolish enough to challenge him in a match at poolbridge, I would have got you back at hunters johnboy, but you cleverly skipped that one lol. We have had the hydro scheme at topcliffe to think about, the horses at knotford(I have had a look at the proposed plans at the delegates meeting and if all goes well looks like the horses will be permanently off the banks)and I am pleased with the way anglers have responded, mainly positively, great to see! Lots of new challenges ahead, I am going to reacquaint myself with my carp gear and get on knotford before the rivers open, I want to fish the Ouse more next year and put more time in on the swale. As always plenty of ideas, it's just a case of finding the time. Hope we all have a year to remember in 2015 and for all the right reasons!
All the best Eddie.

Haha better than farview mate I only had 2 roach about 1oz each what a bummer the fish didn't like me that day didn't even put them in keepnet, my keepnet got wet for no reason and by-eck didn't I get some stick for not catching.
just show`s you how things turn out and too this day I still don't know what I did wrong yet on another day I could of pulled out all the fish in the lake, well as people say that's fishing see on the bank.

well done craig, a great 2014 m8.... not so good for myself i,m afraid, i havnt fished half the amount i would have liked to??? lots of crap at work, with massive paycuts meant working most wkends to try make the money up.... think i,v fished my once fav venues of topcliffe & asenby about half dozen sessions since june.... i did have a few highlights i,m VERY pleased with, i got to fish the river wye for my summer hols, getting 5 barbel..... i managed 6 nice chub in one swale session & i also equaled my record of 3 barbel in one session from the river swale... i great amount of hard work went into my biggest achievement, not only of 2014, but of my 4+ years of fishing......getting my first river TEES barbel, a double at 11lb 3oz...WOW my aim for 2015 is to get back out as often as possible.... good luck to you all for 2015.......... tight lines.

Shane that tees barbel was a cracking fish mate, well deserved and Craig a new pb you've got to be happy. Time constraints mean I don't get on the bankside as often as I would like either, but it does make the time spent there more special. Nice to fish with you both this year by the way.
Eddie.

quite possebally my best year so far since starting full time big fish/allround seasonal angling. kicked the year off with the cat record at pool bridge farm 47lb dead (think its now been beat though) in april spring was a massive learning curve, fished a huge rock hard water for carp and tench and never had a bite. once the rivers opened i got in to some fish. objective this year was to stay local and try to bag my first yorkshire double, 3 weeks in and it was job done in 10 evening sessions from mid june to the middle of september i managed 3 doubles, 4 9's, 3 8's and a load of smaller ones chub played ball too with 15 good ones falling to the barbel rods, managed to up my pb twice with a rather hollow best of 5lb 11oz be back later for these when they should go over 6, not bad in yorkshire with a change in shift and more free time during the day for short sessions i jumped on the lure fishing bandwaggon this season, it took me a while to get into some fish but once i did it was great fun. whilst out perch fishing on my birthday i hook a lump on light perch gear and a 6ft rod, 13lb 6oz, biggest so far on a lure i had a couple of good days last week and on one of them i lost count of perch after half an hour with loads like this all falling for 2in relax kopyto's i lost the perch then but in 3 casts i had 3 pike, the first around 7 or 8lb, the next a little bigger then a good double, all on the same light perch gear then to top the week off i landed my first trout on a lure too winter bait fishing for pike is now underway, last week was a blank but this week i had 2 fish with the best been this at 16lb 9oz, lost a big un and also missed one.

Some great fish lads, well done! I've really enjoyed my fishing this year, I've managed to catch Barbel up to 8lbs from a few stretches which are new to me and although I haven't had any doubles I have caught a lot more Barbel than I did last season. Here's one of the better ones I also had my first ever river Bream and a new PB at 6lb 3oz 2014 has been my best year fishing for predators and I set a target of a 2lb Perch a while back which I finally managed with a fish bang on 2lbs which I caught on my first cast on my first visit to the stretch of river. My first deadbait session of the year produced an 11lb 9oz which I was really pleased with as the last couple of years the vast majority of the Pike I have caught have been jacks. The second deadbait session of the year went even better and I netted a fish of 14lb 2oz. I then had a couple of blank sessions and one small jack. I only had a couple of hours to fish on my next session so decided to head to a stretch I know quite well when for some reason I chose to visit a stretch of river I have fished a few times before but never caught a thing. I fished a few swims which looked ideal but the float never twitched. I had decided to call it a day and walk back to the car when I decided to drop into a swim which looked like it could hold Pike but didn't look anywhere near as good as the previous swims I had tried. After a few minutes the float twitched and started moving off so I struck, at first the fish didn't do much and then it tore across the river and headed downstream, the flow of the river really added to the struggle but a short while later I had landed the fish, I knew it was a good double but when I folded the net back I was gobsmacked. A river 20 is another longstanding target of mine and I realised I may have actually done it. I weighed the fish and at 20lb 1oz I had just managed it. I took a couple of self takes which didn't turn out too great but I was still ecstatic. My last session was on Wednesday in awful weather, myself and a mate got battered by the wind sleet and rain but I did manage my best Chub of the year so far at 5lb 9oz Works pretty hectic for me at the moment with the run up to Christmas but I'm hoping conditions will be good for a bit of river Piking on Thursday and with my laptop having been fixed I'm hoping I'll have a pic or two to upload.
