Hi all just joined the club and forum today, new to river and club fishing always fished local stillwaters but getting on a bit now and fancy a bit of chub and barbel fishing,Topcliffe nearest to me any advice very welcome and much appreciated,

Welcome to the club and forum mate sure you will get your barbel and chub from topcliffe,never fished it myself but theirs plenty of lads on here who have .

Yep good to welcome another new member, topcliffe is a top barbel venue and just round the corner, more or less, asenby is also. There's a good amount of decent barbel caught at both!

welcome poolyboy does that mean your from artlepool toppy is a good place to start looking for chub and barbel hope you have a good year you will get plenty of help and advice on here

It's Paulyboy not Pooly boy ya blind git . . . . Have you started to get your gear ready for our June outing yet . . It'll be here before you know it pet And we'd best hurry up or Fulla will have sold his Barbel rods by then , he seems to be selling everything else

Got a bit carried away with deleting a few posts last night and accidentally deleted Pauls last post which was something along the lines of : Thanks for your advice lads, I’ve got £150 to spend on a Barbel rod and reel – any advice and recommendations greatly appreciated !

if you want to save £60 you wont go wrong with a john wilson barbel quiver and a okuma epix v2 40. i have two and used them for a few years now.... they wont catch you more fish but can handle most types of fishing and fish.

I use Korum Neoterics but theres plenty of choice out there. If you are just buying one rod , I would recommend you look at something with a 1.75lb test curve to get you started.

Paul step into my office pal right this way Barble rod Daiwa theory 1.75tc or 2.25tc built with love and only £80 so ask the wife for another tenner and you can fish 2 rods £160 Don't listen to Rushy he still using big back tv

no probs geoff j.w,young barbel rods 2lb tc come with a quiver tip great rod no probs pulling out 12lb 8oz barbel out of the trent korum kxi50 good reel to go with ,the rods rods are about 55-60 quid reels about 40
