Some of the maps on the website are a bit tricky to follow, and knowing where each water is in relation to others isn't clear at all if you're not familiar with them. So, I spent a little time compiling all the available maps I could find into a single google map which highlights which bank is controlled by the society, lakes & ponds (still working on canals) as well as access paths and parking (a tick box (layer) if you scroll down the menu to the left) Red tags = River Yellow tags = Lakes and Ponds Green tags = Canals MAP OF ALL LEEDS & DISTRICT ASA WATERSAny corrections or additional information is greatly appreciated.. feel free to share and distribute etc.

Paul Thats brilliant mate. Its been talked about several times on here but thats the best effort I've seen so far. I think we could use this as the basis for a really good database and guide ( I think you've just got yourself a job mate if you fancy it ) I'm sure between the lot of us we could add extra info. I think Eddie posted some postcodes for Satnav directions and the one thing I always struggle with is , you get the general directions which you've posted on the pop up menus when you click the venue, but I think it would be a lot better for example putting : Newton On Ouse From the A59 Knaresborough to York road , take the turn for Nun Monkton Village. Take the last turning on the left before you enter the village signposted Sweethills Farm. After 100 yards take the right turn and follow the track along the tree lined avenue to the small industrial park. Go round the back of the units and take a left turn which will lead you to the car park There ya go - thats the first one done !!! Nice one bud

Aren't those directions to Nun Monkton rather than Newton-on-Ouse? Either way I've added them, to the description for Nun Monkton, there are some limitations with what can be done exclusively inside google maps, I could add more digestible details in either a blog or on the forum itself. I'll also look at creating a more structured layout via blog or otherwise depending on how much extra information is available. Chears.

Brilliant contribution this Paul, well played that man.
I'm not a satnav or smart phone sort of bloke, more old school me, so only 6 weeks after joining, I've already got a scrapbook with print-outs of all the river venue maps stuck in, and they're already starting to get covered in notes about pegs etc.

if you do it on google earth you can convert it into a file that can then be uploaded to you satnav, putting the leeds venues in a favourites folder in the satnav menu ;-)

I'll start sorting post codes out at the very least in the short term.

yes thats it, wasn't sure of the name.
think you might need another program to upload it you the sat nav though but iirc that was free to download.
even so, a sharable kml file for google earth would be spot on

Hi paul great seeing someone making valuable contributions to moving the society forwards. Just to update - there is no longer a 50p - was later £1- to park at Nidd Mouth. Keep up the good work.
