Can anyone clear up my confusion regarding the Newton on ouse fishery on the Leeds website It says fishery should only be accessed from the kyle end of the fishery ie the downstream end , however It also shows two parking options one upstream end [pay] and the other downstream[ park In layby}. Could anyone also confirm If this fishery Is a members only water as on the website It does not say one way or the other, information on the pay parking at upstream end of Newton on ouse would also be usefull.
Thanks In advance Stevo53

The Newton fishery is available on a day ticket and the upstream parking has been withdrawn due to the owner at Linton lock not wanting anglers around!!!!

Pity about that the withdrawal of the parking. There is a public footpath from the Linton Lock though, so when we have been camping at the lock (in the very next field to the top of the Leeds water), we accessed from the top end on a day ticket. I had a nice peg there at the top - looked chubby but I caught only roach, perch & dace - though I shared it with a noisy otter family whose holt was right next to the peg so I guess the chub had more sense than to be there. The first time we went, we had read that we could buy a Leeds day ticket there at the Lock, but that's no longer possible so we had to buy a Newton-on-Ouse AC ticket for Beninborough instead, from the shop in Linton village. About 7 miles by road it was past Beninborough (though the Linton Lock camp site also has its own little bit of fishing below the impossibly snaggy weirpool - caught plenty of roach, dace & perch trotting close in but could be barbel heaven, if only I could find someone who knew it well who could draw me a swim map of how to avoid the many massive snags for next time ). Second time we camped at Linton Lock got the day ticket in Leeds before we went and that's when I fished it. Now that we're members I can see us fishing every swim in the Newton-on-Ouse stretch next season while camping at the lock.
