Well guys first time out since before Xmas and by was I ready for it, had a plan and stuck with it went to Topcliff only one other person there.
looks like all those ladies where holding them blokes to ransom today , anyway as I don`t have a lady friend thought as it was Valentines day I`d lay a feast for Mr and Mrs Chub.
an hour had pasted and not a touch, was fishing the tip with Lobworm out in the middle and close in. its such a lovely place with all the bird singing I even heard a male and female tawny owl talking to each other.
so it got to that time to get the flask out a nice cuppa was on the card even the sun popped out and than "Bang"
the rod wrap round banging about all over the place,
"I no what fish this is"
and what a stonker first fish of the year
1 1/2 lbs on the nose great result

Nice fish indeed. Going do quite a lot of light lure fishing for perch next season, and I'll be overjoyed if I could get a PB fish like that.

also I was using that trick with the camera long before Jimmy was born
not bad for first fish of the year.

I think all the weirs were built for man's benefit rather than the wildlife. A weir is a right pain in the ass' if you are a migrating salmon or trout so it's great news we understand this and maybe we should try to scrap 'em all - no fish pass just get 'em out - no need to consider power generation at topcliffe - best knock it down?

A minnow could have jumped that weir at skipbridge ,and would topcliffe be the fishery it is without the weir :)I dont mind em,bit snaggy at times tho
