Fished Leeds ASA’s Polo pond at Kippax nr Leeds for the first time ever yesterday. Arrived around midday and first of all had a look round and chatted to the anglers present to get some idea how to proceed. Most were struggling but one had had a 4lb’ish Tench in the edge (my preferred target) and another had a new PB Carp he estimated at 18lbs (although it beats me why you wouldn’t weigh a PB). On my way round I spotted few Carp and Rudd sunning themselves in the windward corner close to the edge so I resolved to set up the pole there. Despite trying numerous baits I didn’t have a touch and even resorted to a piece of floating crust on the whip which got nosed a few times but never taken. A skimmer with a touch of Roach in it on a worm saved a blank at last knockings just before I packed up around 7-30pm. Poor fishing but a great day for a suntan, I’ll try again when it gets warmer as an overnight frost won’t have helped.
