my first time fishing this stretch... it's a very nice stretch too apart from all the dogs like my swim too but like most anglers i'm happy to share the river even if it kills the fishing for a few hours......

I fished this stretch quite a bit last season, but mainly from the other bank on dayticket as that bank is much better for access.
Great stretch though, stunning surroundings.

Fished helperby myself Friday arrived little after 10am walked down length to 2nd peg from bottom of fishery this was my view for the day. 2nd cast resulted in a barbel bait was meat weighed it at 7 1/2lb in landing net put it back forgot to take picture anyway little after lunch got another This one weighed 6-11 in net. Caught both in high sunshine around midle of day, added a chub also fishing meat. Changed to float brought a further chub 3 small dace a perch about 10oz and a small trout all caught on a size 12 with 3-4 maggots. Peg was like a sun trap and really hot, no dogs to bother me but flies were a nuisance.

Had a few off that peg myself last season, bit of a trek and can be spoilt by anglers fishing the other side. Glad you got the best of it, nice fish!
Eddie.

'can be spoilt by anglers fishing the other side' Not nice is it? but those anglers were fishing to their clubs rules ( Helperby AC ) unlike Leeds members at Asenby ( and Topcliffe )

Eddie the walk down there wasn't to difficult the trek back to the car was arduious, its an easy peg to fish from small sand bank with willows above and below (peg below is the outflow pipe peg) the depth in front of you is 4-5 feet but shallows up quite considerably at bottom of swim which makes float fishing a bit harder. The pace of the river is good pushes through a bit mid river there is a snag 3/4 across slightly down stream which is visible with polariods on. Cows coming down to drink were he only visitors on opposite bank.
