Some nice swims at Skipton but for some reason the barbel don't seem to be there in numbers. Ive had the odd one and thats about it , but chub like the one you've just had will be well worth targeting in winter , a 5lb summer chub is a big old fish.
Regards Mick.

i have had ten blank sessions.. two on the swale at myton and asenby.. and eight on the river wear in durham but i believe that putting the hours in shortens the odds thats why i do twelve hr sessions... your first barbel will come soon paul keep using spam as it never lets me down. 90% of my chub and barbel have been caught using it. my first barbel 8yr ago

If you include a few photos in your posts, to me it just makes for a more entertaining read. Keep the reports coming, it can only be of benefit to other anglers.
Eddie.

I remember going to this place 20 years ago before the internet and no map book going round and round in circles trying to find that place getting hopelessly lost! I have fished it but likewise very chubby area. Its middle swale not easy for barbel I think. Do you have to be off there at a certain time still as there is a gate there? I think someone got locked in once. Nice pictures Ian might have a trip there again sometime.

yes mate it gets locked up at about 10 there is a barrier i think it is locked by a worker, as there is a poultry/egg business down there but its a lovely spot and usually have it to yourself,

A nice chub you've got there Ian, I had a couple of smallish barbel out of peg 1 a couple of seasons ago but apart from a few chub I've had very little else. I find it a hard stretch to catch on. Those jack pike are a nuisance, I've lost a few feeders to them following in.

You are more persistent than I ever could be . If I have more than 2 blanks in succession I change venue and/or species as not catching fish is just that to me- not catching .And I fish to catch !
