Ooooooo . . . The big boys are coming out to play now They'll do well to beat Rushy and Johnboy on the Nidd though . . . I can feel a fifty pence side bet coming on Could have a potential disaster from an afternoons float outing . . Got two little Barbs and took a piccy of one . Left my camera perched on my mini tripod and a bloody Robin landed on it and knocked it in the river ........... It's just drying out . . . Hopefully come on Rushy I know I fish the Nidd a lot like you, but I`m way off the level of Barbel fishing like yourself. I`ve only had 2 this year so far and I`ve done more fishing this than perverse years lol
haha Rushy what is it with you and red breasted Robins, it most be that deodorant you wear.
I think Eddie is a good bet

I spend so much time on this river that I'm changing my name to "Niddgel". It was "Wyegel" for a while, but as of yesterday my Nidd catches finally overtook what i caught in one evening and morning in Hereford, so "Niddgel" it is.
So with my barbel luck pretty good recently, i'd love to make this, but looks like I can't - mostly cos Claire will be in Spain & I'll be on me own with the dog - and probably his brother too, who we look after sometimes.
Should be an excellent day. You'll all love it so much that we should do the same thing for Horseshoe Bend a couple of weeks later, to get to know the new pegs and GET IT FISHED. Get in training lads - carrying your lightest gear just a mile and a quarter will do - and watch this space.

Well back from sunny Wales and I've got to have Barbel fix so just finishing off the painting I couldn't be bothered doing the other week then it's Nidd bound with Deano. I am taking the strimmer ( prepare a few pegs for next Saturday ) and we are going to have a look at the Railway Field at Skip Bridge . . . I don't think there will be enough pegs for us all to rove at the Horse Field !!! Will post picture of Deanos Barbel tonight . . . . .

Well that didn't quite go to plan. We got there at two , walked under the little bridge and then down left to the main bridge. Plonked our gear down and decided to walk the length up to peg 1 which is back at the little bridge again. Just as we set a off a bloke comes out of a peg " I've just been putting a bit of bait in , I'm off to fish a peg a bit further up " Evidently he'd had fish in his last 4 visits so sounded promising We went into every peg on the way up and cleared access although it looks like the match lads have done a good job. On the way back we sees our friend obviously in his favourite peg. We tied some balsam and hogweed onto our heads and peered over to watch him. In went the lead , straight in the middle , not near the crease, not near the willow . . . . Deano and I looked at each other Mmmmmmmmm His hand went into his bait tub , a quick throw and it looked like his swim had been peppered by a Gattling Gun . He must have chucked 50 pellets in Deanos balsam head camo was wilting so we turned to retreat only to hear another burst of gunfire as another 50 pellets went in We were half tempted to ask him which other swims he had " put a bit of bait in " but decided to just give it a go. We had a 45 minute a peg roving session for 3 hours , it was coloured and extra water ( it's the kiss of death I tell ya . . . I'm convinced ) In summary , I had a couple of good Chub wrap rounds that I missed and Deano got a lucky 4 pound Chub. Some nice pegs though and a lovely afternoon to be out. Hopefully all the Barbel will have eaten that guys pellets by next Saturday and will havepout weight on and be just about hungry again
