Can't believe there's an argument over if a stove can be allowed or not, Jesus wept man,,, 500 plus of your members will use a stove look the other way until it's solved at next meeting simples,,, Flask coffee not same as fresh coffee,, and it's not as hot,, Who makes THEESE rules up,, they want shooting,,

Stoves are being used by carp anglers all the time already and strictly speaking it's against club rules, but there is no talk of stopping them at all. How can you fish for a week without a stove? Flask of coffee would be a bit inadequate! A stove was seen used at Moor Monkton and so two worlds collide,a specimen anglers stove on a match angling venue! I can feel the shock waves lol. It's just someone making a cuppa or some lunch, no big deal.. And soon to be sorted I hope, at least its brought another out dated rule into the spotlight for reconsideration.
Eddie.

Grayson, I never said you need a stove in order to catch big fish, but stoves and cooking are normal to most specimen anglers whereas fires are not. I use a stove almost every time I go fishing, even if I only go for a few hours. I have done so for over 35years but I have never lit a fire. A stove and a fire are two completely different things and that is my interpretation of the rule. I have no intention of pulling anybody up for using a stove so if that makes me a unfit bailiff then I will happily relinquish my bailliffs warrant

I think the mistake Neil made was to use his stove in a place where anglers sit 10ft from each other, hauling out fish after fish from an overstocked water and stuffing them into a keepnet. All in the hope of winning a few bob. If someone wants to walk for 3/4 of an hour and slide 20ft down a bank through balsam to see if I'm having a brew then I'll tell them where to go and they can walk back.

Thanks for all your replies and opinions. I seem to have caused quite a debate. I hope the rule gets revised soon. This is a serious matter when a cuppa is involved Kind regards Neil

My lord im glad im not a member of this club. Next you will be saying no sunglasses. You lot need to concentrate more on whos water your fishing . Like the parish peg at Topcliffe. Or do you all only go on there so you can light your stoves?

Or do you all only go on there so you can light your stoves? I can understand and sympathise with your complaints, but not with your manner, especially after the way things went in your last thread. I can also understand why you would use the only channel of communication that gets you a response, but let's get the following constituencies clarified shall we? 1. This forum = the sort of considerate people who care about the club, discussing the issues. 2. The Topcliffe rule breakers = the sort of idiots who don't care, and are unlikely to come on forums. We do care, as we show in threads like this, where even the rude tone of the original post ( a bit like yours) gets a civilised response, leedsdasa.proboards.com/thread/2763/killing-barbel but it's still a bit like going on the BBC Springwatch Forum to complain about otters.

Well, old Topcliffe has got me quite intrigued with this Parish Peg. He keeps going on about it so there must be something special about it Will have to give it a go sometime . . . What's the best time to fish it . . . After dark I assume Ps. Topcliffe me old fruit . . . I estimate there's about 100 to 200 anglers regularly peruse this Forum . . It might be a good idea to stop harping on about how good the Parish peg is

The sooner we buy this parish peg the better,it'll make a nice extension to our existing length. Should be able to get it for a few K and then we won't need to deal with Mr Topclffe, although if Jimmy screeds it before purchase the price may rise. It's the right time of year now and will be having a go in the bottom pegs shortly, don't have enough room in the car for the aga so I'll make do with sarnies and a flask.
