Hi all, it’s been a while since I posted, there’s probably a whole lot of new members since I last logged in I haven’t fished much this season… although I did spend a week fishing the river Severn with the Mrs in July, which I thoroughly enjoyed (but still haven’t put a report together…..(to follow) Anyway, I popped to Topcliffe yesterday (massive improvement with the litter….or lack of it ) & chatted to some old & some new faces, I was told it hasn’t fished that well so far this season? I Had a chat with Geoff & his son, then met Andymac (I think) & his mate Derek. Please to meet you both Plenty of spare pegs to fish at Toppy, but I’ve yet to catch my first Asenby chub or barbel ;( So off to Asenby I went, only one car there but I didn’t see any anglers? I fished a peg in the second field, pretty steep, tight peg, but I managed to squeeze 2 rods in. No bites for the first 45 mins or so…..i was reeling in to check the worm was still on, then felt a thud!! My rod bent & a few yards of line went out after a 5 minute fight, including a short tail-walk, I managed to land a pike, 7lb 13oz A short time after, guess what followed Dave? a very small perch hehe…. I had another short run in the last half hour, before the fish pinged off?? I only fished 3pm until 6pm, a short but very enjoyable session. I,m hoping to make it to Rushy’s Nidd gathering next Sat (work permitting). Shane

Nice chatting with you Shane, was quiet at Topcliffe I thought there would be a few more there with a bit more water in the river. Aside from that decent chub all I had were perch and gudgeon, same with Derek although He copped for a few pike on worm like yourself.
