well where do I start !!!
I asked myself the same question ?
fancied a change from the solid baits and Barbel fishing so opted to the Ouse and Nidd at Moor Munkton, so order of the day was stick float with red maggot on the hook with gentle trickling in both maggot and caster. the other was the feeder rod with maggot feeder and again maggot on the hook.
decided to go up the Ouse first if no good can always back track to the Nidd closer to the car,
so feeder rod went in the water pace was good so opted for mid swim with this rod over to my right. before the float rod went in I started to feed little and often about 1 half rod lengths out where the stick float would flow though the swim.
every now and then I would have a couple of nocks on the feeder rod then in comes a fish a nice little perch and then another, well at least I`m not Blanking in between the peach would be either a Bleak or Dace.
after about an hour leaving the feeder rod in I started with the stick float just in front of me, nocks from the off missed as many as I caught tried different depts. 6ft, 4ft and 2 ft, and it was the 2ft that was the most productive.
in the middle of catching around 20 to 25 small Bleak, Dace and roach the feeder rod went fish on this is a better fish nocking the rod as brought it in a nice roach 10 to 12 oz
filled the feeder with more maggots and back in it went, carried on with the stick float and feeding the swim catching more small stuff. the feeder rod went again another decent roach again 10 to 12 oz
it was such a lovely day and I was enjoying myself sat in my chair in the sun watching all the nature around me even had a flash of blue pass me twice yes Kingfisher I love these birds. you cant believe that these beautiful birds live in Britain. Also I had a Mandarin Duck in my swim all afternoon beautiful colour nether seen before so its another 1 to my list, look it up and you will see what I mean.
also today sat watching walkers on the other side and then there was a gap where there was no 1, then from behind the trees a big bird came through and landed on a dead tree just in front of me. out came the camera wasn't going to take a photo really I was just going to look through the view finder to see what it was well I couldn't resit my figure pressed the button a couple of times. yes another great bird I love they are so majestic these bird.
a Kestrel
so after spending most of the day there I decide to pack up and move down to the Nidd for the last couple of hours well it didn't stop there found a nice little peg near the car park, same tactics both on feeder and float I had more small Bleak, Dace a couple of chubblets and 1 decent size about 12 oz. so all in all a good day out.
so as the above title says (passion from both sides)
my love and passion for Angling and my love and passion for Wildlife (Nature)
this is what dreams are made from
