Following a chat with an old acquaintance the other day about Blacker Dam, an old favourite of both of us that seems to have fallen on hard times, or is about to at least. I bumbled into the car park this afternoon and I found the place had really overgrown. Not the pathways, those were much better than I expected, (thanks lads). However almost every peg virtually had a roof of branches over it. Talk about gloomy! Clearly anyone trying to use a rod of more than 10ft was in for some difficulty in some of the pegs. This explained why a number of the swims clearly hadn't had much use this Summer, with grass and nettles covering even some of the better ones, (including my own "banker" ). Don't suppose some of the swims could be opened up overhead, and in the case of the ones with trees way out over the water, cleared out altogether. Please! BOF

The Blacker Dam fishery is no longer a society venue, we relinquished the lease at the end of 2015
