Last night was probably my last session on an evening after work before the clocks go back. The river looked good apart from the leaves flushing down the main flow. I put one rod slighly upstream on the edge of the main flow (it didn't seem to catch as much rubbish as when put in downstream) and the other rod was tucked in towards the bank. Whats that ?......... tap, tap and a good pull on the upstream rod, I'm in ! get in there ! ..........a flash of gold below the surface and sight of a big forked tail ........but where is the screaming run ? best get the net ready this one is not up for a scrap. Then it did its party piece .....tailwalked all the way through the swim ...............bugger its a Pike !!! Oh well - you can't win them all - apart from a strong pull on a worm later on - that was it ! Best get the chub and Grayling gear out and try to get out on a weekend or take the odd day off. Cheers Andy
