But don't buy breathables- having spent an obscene amount of money on these for fly fihsing - only to see every bloody pair leak like sieves sooner or later(usually the former )I went back to traditional chest waders- £85 from Brtish Wader Co in Liverpool and they have been perfect . Bearing in mind my typical trouting day involves being on feet for 5-6 hours and walking a mile or two, climbing thorny banks etc I am well impressed

I have only ever bought Orvis waders. Mainly because there is a store near me and I think it is very important that they fit correctly for fly fishing, sometimes walking over 3 miles in a session, so I go in and try them on. Orvis supply different leg lengths for different waist fittings which most wader suppliers don't do. As has been said you get what you pay for but at about £150 the Orvis encounter breathable waders are superb. I have had them on about 10 times and I cannot fault them. I expect them to last at least as long as my last Orvis breathables - 15 yrs !!

Orvis- I wouldn't be paid to use them. Last pair leaked after 3 months - no response from firm to my complaint. I first bought breathables in about 2004 and have got through 5 pairs since then until giving up in disgust . I do fish a lot and my waders get a lot of abuse - but PVC/rubber ones take it and breathables don't . No real difference in weight either - amazingly- my Orvis stocking foot and wading boots weigh about 7-8 , my Liverpool waders about 10oz more.
