I must admit Geoff , the sitting and waiting Carbelling had started to get to me of late. I much prefer the 45 minutes in a swim and move swims ( or rivers ) but I've come to the conclusion that Barbel fishing is an addiction, cos when that rod goes round and the fish screams off , it's all worthwhile no matter what size it is

Think I got slated when I mentioned Carpbelling a few years ago! Anyway I have read some good books recently when deadbaiting but I rarely fish more than 3 hours whatever I fish for. They say you need patience for fishing but I reach my limits after about 3 hours. There came a time for me when even the 3ft twitch became commonplace. I do like the way you have trundled meat and float-fished for barbel though mate. Tying my own flies that manage to deceive fish is what mostly floats my boat at the moment - unless I'm starting or finishing a new book !

Well done for getting your pic in again eddie lol. Keep going mate that double will come if you put the time in. I have had half a dozen in the daylight in that area and all of them between now and close season !! Dammed right, if I am going to get a boilie sponsorship deal, for my carbeling, need all the publicity I can get lol. Eddie.

We have extended hours on some venues from May to Oct but we do not have any night fishing on any river venues
Regards Graham
I remember many years ago, Leeds anglers regularly night fishing at Newton on Ouse. They fished mainly for chub and barbel, sat on baskets under brollies with tilley lamps burning.

Hi, not being lucky enough to be close to rivers like the Swale etc, be nice to be able to Bivvy up, then fish through the day. Rather than getting up middle of night, then all that driving etc, there & back. Also better petrol wise if fish day, sleep night, then fish next day.
Cheers Bob
ps be nice if members could get individual night permits for say Knotsford, say £5 ? Be too far for a lot to fish just day (plus costs), or for those not going to fish it lots of times.
pps wouldn't bother me not fishing night time. Not the best with none or little sleep.

I have thought about that idea myself, I would probably only want to do one or two nights in a whole season at knotford and find it hard to justify the night permit price, (is it £85?), bit pricey for a couple of nights on your own clubs water.

Eddie. So you enjoy a blank Eddie lad ?, Think you need to put several more nights in to get results at Knotford old bean it's not for the faint hearted 3ft twitch lads £85 for a full years pass on a premier carp water with 30s lol its peanuts man,,,, Most day tickets are £25 a night !!!!! Think there's a lot of tight folks about,,., If you buy a £85 night ticket and can't use it for 5-6 nights in a full year,,, your work life marriage balance isn't right,,, Lol if I don't do 5-6 nights a fortnight I get cabin fever and go mental,,,

Nothing to do with work/marriage Jimmy! I just want to have a go for a big bream! In the few weekends before the rivers reopen in June. Barbel/ bream balance, fishing the rivers will win every time! I've already spent plenty of nights chasing carp, but those days are over!

Hi, its not Eric's Willows or any other similar venue. Or a private River stretch, even at £5 a day etc, if you do alot of days it adds up as well. £85 OK if your going to fish say even 6mths, one night a month, for a £5per night(or whatever) that's £130 (or whatever). Sure many paying £85 do many more. A lot can day fish say Knotford every day of the week & no nights, but for some, its a bit of a travel. Or maybe it would also make the venue more inclusive, rather than exclusive.
Fishing right spot/place, putting time into it, getting to know a venue & a bit of work, helps you catch more fish than anything else. Certainly main skill of most Carpers & other anglers, for whatever fish, whatever waters.
Cheers Bob
