Hi everyone ... I'm looking for some information as regards to spinning for trout on some of our waters .... As I'm new to this kind of fishing could anyone give me any idea on where to go please ... I've fished at middleham for coarse fish but no idea on the laws for spinning there ... When does the season for trout start and can you actually lure fish THANKYOU everyone ?

A mega bass zonk straight down the middle of the ouse is deadly for the little buggers

Isn't the river ouse quite wide? I bought myself an ultralight spinning rod for the trout. 1 to 4 g. I think I would struggle casting into the middle of that !!! Will look up the name of that lure though and much appreciated... ?

Thanx lads for info .....so when is the Ouse / ure open season for trout and is it ok to go spinning for them ?? I just thought it was fly or worm but just want to make sure and not get wrong from any bailiff or " fly fisherman " for fishing in an illegal way ?? My dad was at topclife on Monday and had 2 trout on maggots whilst chub fishing but I wouldn't try there as that's the place I like going to target perch & chub with the lure come June 16 th ( can't wait ) ..So trying to keep to a river that has or looks more " trouty " if you know what I mean lads ?

Evening all .... Where on the Ouse would be the place to try & That's great info " trout " & will try the Ouse or ure at middleham in April I think once I get some time off ...... Checked thoese mega bass lures out springer and they certainly are pricey but do look great ...... Looking foreward to it & will most certainly let you all know how it goes .... Been a while since I've been on this messaging site and it's great to see how everyone gets on with their fishing ...... Let's hope Easter bank holiday's weather picks up and see some fish on the bank ? ?

I think Springer used to fish the Ouse when it was rammed with Trout back in err errrr errr . . . . . back when he used to ride there on his pushbike from Leeds after his paper round. Unfortunately they don't appear to be there in their masses any longer and even if you got the latest mega zonk mk 111 lure I think you might struggle. I'd be inclined to go with Trouts advice mate and maybe try the Wharfe at Poole Springer said to let him know if you buy some of the Mega Zonks , he might chip in with you and share the postage Good luck mate

I'd Just stick to the fly and worm if you must fella but I'd leave the lures for the coarse fish and you are right there's better rivers for trout ,I'm just pulling your chain , thought you were one of the nut jobs we get at this time of the year

....... And don't use worm on Leeds waters . . They are banned during the closed season. Fly and lures only

Cheers lads ..... That's something I didn't know about the " worm " ban .......... It's just to keep things right as I'm sure their will be people who just fish any method until caught doing so in the closed season for coarse fish in our rivers !!!! .,,., so ponds it is or spinning for trout ......... I managed to get some small Mepps spinners ... I.e no 0-1 size ... Will try them when I get some time off what wth work and kids & if I'm lucky will put some photos on ? ?
