I'm currently looking at linking the Leeds DASA venue maps to both Google Earth and Google Maps which allow the viewer to zoom in, and out, at the click of a mouse button. This should give members the opportunity to view our venues in more detail, and get accurate directions just by clicking on markers within the map. I've set up a test page where you can view an example map, West Haddlesey, which contains links to both Google Earth and Google Maps (You should see the links at the bottom of the map). Any feedback, positive or negative, would be very welcome. To view a map in Google Earth you will need to install it on your PC. This is a free download which you can get from, earth.google.com/download-earth.htmlThe test page is at www.leedsdasa.co.uk/html/maps_test.html Andy

All the river maps are all now linked to Google Earth/Maps. I'll start the Canals and Lakes as soon as I get the time. Thanks again to Artist Tom for all his work in the original maps which have been invaluable in highlighting the parking, and fishery boundaries. I'm still amazed at the sheer detail which is possible in Google Earth / Maps ... just look at this image from Google Earth which clearly shows the shallower areas of the river, and the trail of foam left by the sewage outfall at Tadcaster!!! www.leedsdasa.co.uk/html/tadcasterfromspace.jpgI can see the day when we'll be able to spot shoals of fish from these satellite images ;D
