The new tench and barbel were introduced to skylark last week and are starting to make an appearence, another stocking of carp will take place at the end of this month, this should bring the stocks to the levels we planned at the start of last year. Today we started a new pool with the intentions to bring some fingerlings through, this should give us a good stock of babies for the new lake and the experience to maybe have a go for ourselves. Todays effort get it planted this week i'll know in the morning if it holds water, cheers to rapes and john for the hand, and a bloody good jcb "phil"

How big is the header tank on your Merc, Frim?! it looks like you're filling the lake from your car ;D
On a serious note though, well done to those who put in the hard work...again. Keep up the good work, Leeds!

hi Frim, not sure a willow is a good idea on such a small water, you may find it becoming too big, and shading the water too much[as well as the roots breaking up the island ] i know you can prune as and when, but hassle invovling boats etc. a stock pond is a lot of work as it is, without adding to it ps apologies if sucking eggs is one of your first thoughts graham

No probs Graham i know where your coming from!! unfortunately because of planning restrictions the pool is a conservation project and bringing the fish through is secondary to the planners, so we have to make it look nice for them and the fish will be a bonus. frim

how about a hawthorn, looks nice in the spring, its an indegenous species [in decline] and does attract a varied bird use. and you can still train it ,better still ,plant several and get somebody, lay it over in a round shape around the edge of the island to make an even better eco growth
