I am very pleased to inform you that my dad has just returned from Gold Valley having had a week's holiday which finished with the Southern Fish off of the Garbolino Club Angler Competition and he won it!!
He weighed just short of 60lb and is now one of only 15 finalists which will fish at Barston Lakes early September where there are around £10k of prizes to be won.
Look out for the result in the August Issue of Match Fishing.

Yep, he's collared me into fishing a 100 pegger on 1st July where the winner gets £1000.
He's offered to share his winnings with me.........
It's a method water apparently. So a big rod and a big chuck will be required. It's got loads of Carp in it up to nearly 30lb and Bream to 10lb plus Tench to 5lb and so that sounds good to me.

Geoff Ringer won the Barston Bowl with 70lb ish with Tom Pickering 3rd with 47lb. I was ounced out of winning my section with 27lb 5oz, but my dad won his section with 23lb. All on Method Feeders.
Been practising on the pole with my dad last week and it was nice not to get pestered by Carp. Lots of Roach, Rudd, Skimmers, Hybrids and Perch.....just like Roundhay in the shallows.

Thanks to both of you.
He drew what is normally a favoured area peg 117, but unfortunately today the pegs in the nineties all framed. Typical.
The winner had 70lb and caught a 30lb of Carp on Paste, followed by 40lb of Skimmers.
2nd had 50lb+ then 3rd and 4th had 36lb each.
My dad managed mid twenties only and couldn't put a string of fish together he said.
However, he did very well to get to the final.
He is obviously disappointed but he accepts that the competition was tough and good anglers in good areas of the lake beat him today.
He hopes to return next year to do better.
Thanks again.
