Well its a fantastic fishery with masses of potential. I agree we should develop it and build on what we already have. It adds to the wide scope of fishing our club offers. An ideal place foe specimen anglers - general coarse anglers - Pike anglers and a safe scenic outing with any budding young anglers. Looking forward to the next phase ...... might even take this Carp fishing lark up myself now Jimmy has given me a few tips

Couldn't agree more about the potential, the place was once full of big carp and tench and had its regular carp fishing fraternity. It was the first place I night fished, that night there was a thunderstorm in the distance, luckily it came nowhere near. Next morning it was all over the news about York Minster being hit by lightning and on fire!

A deal is being done to sell two plots of land to the family that live ajoining the fishery and putting the income into stocking would be the way forward, something must be done with this fishery to make it inviting to the members of the club. Regards Graham Thanks Graham for your quick response, as you said it would be the way forward just hope it happens. Thanks Andy

I know what you mean Andy, I tend to think events were 15/20 years ago. It's only when you have something like the fire to date it you realise just how long ago it was!lol.

Is the land being sold to the family that has the horses that trample everywhere? I used to fish it years ago and you had to be up very early to get the pegs on the point opposite the car park. A good net of tench was almost guaranteed. Seemed to be inviting then! Mind you it was before the catastrophic club decision to let the horses roam - devastating this once pleasant and productive fishery. It needs tlc and treating with respect - not stocking!!

If only you knew what you were talking about.
Yes the land is being sold to the guy's with the horse's
The horses have all been removed today and paddocked in the area's to be sold for the winter.
The car park area is to be extended and resurfaced as is the gate way but we have missed the chance to do it before winter so it will be done next spring.
Discussions will take place as to the future of the fishery in the next few weeks/month's, let's have your thoughts without sniping at the officials and maybe we will have a fishery that members are willing and happy to use.
Regards Graham

Do we have any idea of the present stock? Does it just need fishing more regularly. Have we any forum users that have any info? Would be good to hear from anyone fishing it recently.

Lets have some constructive ideas and thoughts. My general idea would be to have am annual stocking policy of some decent 5 to 10lb Carp (C4's I think they are called ) Stock some silvers and general coarse fish that would encourage more anglers and hopefully juniors who are after a nice relaxing day out. This would also (dare I say it !! ) give food to the rather ill looking Pike that live in there at the moment. AND - No matches !!!!! I fished Bradford Knotford a few times during the summer and it was packed. I made a point of walking over to Leeds Knotford and it was all but empty !! There is perceived to be a lot of ill feling amongst the Bradford No 1 members at the moment about the way their fishery is being run ................ an ideal opportunity to boost our membership !!!

I like what your saying Rushy I do like knotford Bradford no1 but also don't like what people are saying about it, it seems to me all bad press and no action. been with Bradford no1 for over 20 years and find it harder and harder to fish knotford and the bad press goes on year after year.
its been 25 years since I fished the Leeds water and it used to be a really nice place to fish not that I fished it much as I was more of a river man back then, it would be nice to see some improvement in this place.
I did here off Jimmy it is very weedy now I don't mind a bit of weed for the fish to hide and feed off but not to much you cant fish it maybe a starting point to find how much weed is in just my thought

Hi Jimmy
Thanks for the effort, that is exactly what I wanted to hear, something constructive, a definite way forward.
What size carp are you talking about in the 800?
Regards Graham

Great post Jimmy ,that's certainly the way to go forward in this day an age, not going to be cheap but will certainly bring the angler's back on the banks at knotsford.

What do they say-- knowledge is power-- is that why you keep us in the dark. Why do you not share this info with the membership more frequently - you seem sharp at answering my posts! why not so with updates to the many club members that use this forum ?
