I'd also like clarification on the Hammerton Railway match, I assume it will be from the railway bridge at Skip Bridge upstream? I'm intending to fish the Nidd around there on 16th, am I ok on the Skip Bridge side of the railway bridge? Also how much of the Hammerton side will be pegged out?

Frim can you confirm where the pegs start for the moor monkton stretch of the nidd? Is the old wheatsheaf farm stretch included? What time does the match start on the 16th?
Thanks
Paul

It looks like all the best venues are booked up for matches on the 16th and no room for us pleasure anglers.
Can anyone advise me how i find out which venues are booked for matches in the future. I take it that most of these bookings are outside matches because they do not appear in the match diary on the web site.
It would be really usefull if there was a section on the website for these matches to avoid people like me travelling to a venue to find out there is a match on. It would also avoid annoying the match men who turn up and find me sat in a peg they want to use, having fed and fished the peg for an hour or 2 (i tend to start fishing a venue around 7.30, long before the match men turn up)

Hi Stan, Frim, Graham.
Less than a week to go now chaps! Could one of you please answer the questions or clarify the points which have been raised above, to avoid any confusion on opening day.
It would really be appreciated guys.
Thanks
Glen.

Where does one start indeed ? Starting time for matches is at the discretion of the club booking the water which cannot be pegged after 10.30am. 'Spare' pegs are then available to fish. If Skip Bridge above or below isn't shown as booked fish it ! There is plenty of Nidd to fish there and Hammerton Mill Top. As for all best venues booked for 16th, look in your yearbook and use your imagination and try somewhere different there's loads to go at. Its not like a few years ago when almost everywhere was booked for a match. If you want to know where is free, what page did you post on ? I would poit out that it cant be finalised until the Monday previous to the weekend as match bookings can still be made up until that evening. Finally tight lines to everybody have good season.

Sorry Banjoman - what was the point of your last post? It doesn't help to clarify the situation at all?
The powers that be should clarify the stretches which are booked to stop any potential problems between pleasure anglers and the matchmen. As paying members of the club we all have the right to fish Leeds waters and clarification of actual stretches booked would avoid disappointed members.
Is it really that hard to do? Or is it just a case of the usual Leeds angling club can't be a***d attitute?

I totally agree with Glen.
There is a match calendar on the website, why can't this be updated as and when matches are booked. Banjoman advises that match bookings must be made by the Monday prior to the following weekend, this gives you Tuesday to Friday to update the calendar in time for pleasure anglers to decide where to fish on Sat/Sun.
Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't this a simple solution.

Surely the first post on this thread provides some of the information required even if it was produced slightly prematurely. The match calendar contains mainly Society Matches whereas the weekly update contains the club matches that have been booked As for definitions of river lengths there is a maps and directions section elsewhere on this site which I have found useful in the past.

Thanks for that Banjoman, however how up to date/accurate are the maps? Not very accurate at all as they have probably never been updated since they were produced! What about changes to access, parking arrangments or Leeds giving up lengths/stretches?
I still stick to my original statement that surely it is far easier for members of the clubs with the relevant knowledge to just answer the simple questions that have been made by various people.
Come on its not that hard!

hi guys, the railway length is from the railway bridge, where the river runs under it upstream to the bridge that enter the length to the sandbed about 500 yds uppstream of the entry, thats where you go under the railway bridge, the field you cross to get to the bridge is called skip bridge above and is not booked, moor munkton is booked as the whole length from the fence behind the cottages to the nidd mouth,
