On Tuesday of this week i read Dennis lemons column in the Y E P as probably a lot of other anglers did.It was Mostly on about a man called Dave Winter who sadly died last year from what sounds like Asbestosis. As Dennis explains in hes column David wanted to help promote junior angling either by giving them the tackle to use, or by selling the tackle and the proceeds given to help promote the sport through junior angling.
Here is a direct quote from the article just in case some of you didn't see it.
(His aim was to catalogue all his gear to give him some sort of idea of its value and when he had done this he would give me a call to collect from his home in Boston Spa. ) It then goes on to say that it never happened and Dennis was contacted in August last year by his wife of David's passing.
But she did know of the arrangement between Dennis and David, Dennis then got in-touch with Leeds official Steve fearnley and explained the situation to him. Steve then got a friend to help him get the gear from Boston Spa and so on.
Dennis then says he was amazed to see just how much tackle there was as the first time he saw it, was when it was (unloaded) . 15 Rods, two poles,
four seat boxes, clothing, nets, reels, etc etc.
Steve was supposed to be posting a specific list of the tackle on this site for EVERYBODY to have an interest, But that's not going to happen because all of the stuff as already been sorted out by steve&co and sold to (whom it may concern) and if there is anything left that's probably because they didn't want it.
Story published this Tuesday tackle sorted out two weeks ago, work that one out for yourself.
Now maybe this is just me but see what you all think to this idea. We have headquarters in Stoney Rock Leeds that seats hundreds of people would it not have been a much better idea to have posted the findings on here like it has in the paper and arrange an Auction, so that everybody that wanted to attend could do so. This would have generated a lot more intrest and most definitely more money for the tackle plus much needed revenue behind a bar that always seems to be struggling.
Almost seems criminal to me to let things like this keep getting brushed under the carpet, absolute joke and i hope that you all did Davids Family proud.
