I used to use Vitalin in my ground bait mixes but as I cant use it on the club still waters I was wondering what I could use in its place. I’m really wondering what can be used to bind the other various ingredients together in a ground bait feeder.

Steve the rule is garbage and I know was brought in years ago by members who believed everything that was wrote. The ban was always only aimed at floater fishing with mixers "then usually chum" but interpretations were covered by adding reconstituted or dehydrated. I suppose your right and taking the rule seriously banning yourself using Vitalin but I know that it was never mentioned when the ban was brought in, the rule has never been challenged but it should be, some of the shop bought crap groundbaits used now create more problems to fish and water quality than Vitalin ever has, to go a step further why is fishing a floating pellet ok but fishing a mixer banned? both are aimed at someones pets and both are dehydrated to some degree.

I understand the supposed problems attributed to dehydrated pet food but until the rule is abandoned or rescinded I will try other ingredients. Is the rule to be amended by any chance?

That's an interesting interpretation, and since all groundbaits and pellets are sold in dehydrated form, shouldnt they be covered as well? BOF PS the main sticky ingredient I use when I cant get hold of Vitalin is Flaked Maize, (I crush 50% of it in an old electric coffee grinder).

Looking for Vitalin substitutes shows almost every ingredient could be used as animal feed and is almost always dehydrated so do you follow the word of the law or the spirit of it. If you whizz Vitalin down to powder is that the same as fishing floating Chum mixer?

Not to my mind, as a) it doesn't float after wetting, and b) you are using it as a feeder mix. BOF
