Anyone tried fishing a weekend match stretch on, say, a Monday morning? Is there any difference? Do they come back looking for more bait or is there already too much left in the water so it spreads the fish out, or has it all been swept up by fish already and/or they've all run a mile?
I'm thinking, say, of the Ouse at Linton or the Wharfe at Skelf- what are your experieces whether targetting chub, bream, roach, barbel, anything really, on the day(s) after a decent-sized match, but same question for a smaller match on, say, Nidd or Swale.
I can't find a previous discussion of this one here or elsewhere - it's hard topic to get the search terms right though.

Right, only speaking from personal River Match Fishing experience. After the "Weigh~in". What you've got left goes in, if you've only maybe 1/2 to a Pint of Caster out of possibly 3to4 Pints and the same of Maggot from maybe up a Gallon , then you've been feeding right and Catching regularly. If I have enough left for a session then it's saved. Pellet etc. Gets resealed and/or refrozen. (I am a Yorkshireman After all) Monday always seems to be quiet (Angler Wise) on the Rivers, but it's a day I like fishing, especially after there has been a Match. The Access has been already made, the Pegs are all flattened, and if you Know the Results from Sunday, you know which Peg is a Flier... I tend to be of the School that thinks the Fish don't come back looking for more Bait. The Lazy So-and-So's lie there and wait for it dropping on their Noses(metaphorically speaking) Please, please, please , don't try and lure me into the Trap of comparing the Ouse at Linton with the Wharfe at Ulleskelf and the Nidd or Swale. You may as well ask if I Like Marmite. I can safely say that, I'll swear, lots of Decent fish I have caught in a Match on Sunday, fell for the same tactics and Bait on Monday, from the same Peg. Hope this helps in your Quest...... Edit.... You may find that packing a Rubble Sack and some Chrome Leather gloves will help. Somehow, us Matchmen (Ex) always think the River Goblins clear it all up after us. Not all, I may Add, some are pretty strict in that area, but then again, I did find my Okuma PBX Pro waiting for me, in it's own little Padded Reel Bag at Collingham, on the Trent, one day,not many years ago (and , yes I tried finding the origional owner, and no the Police weren't interested).....

Great answer thanks.
I'll be sure to pack the river goblin gloves ...
Do you like marmite though? And why is it so expensive? And why don't the supermarkets do own brand marmites?
(Never afraid to ask the big questions me).

I would be interested to know where you get the match results from. The question about results was asked last august without any success.

Sorry about results, other people are far better placed to do this than me, I wouldn't know what a fish looks like

Hi mate, its not worth kennelling my dog during the short days so I’m waiting to start again any time soon. I don’t do knitting but I have taken up airgun shooting again, my wife (the banker) actually released funds for me to buy me a new rifle and scope to get me out of the house.
