Well Dave is off to warmer climes to sun himself, so it's down to me to report on this months meeting, here goes then:-
DUMMY AT KIPPAX PARK
Members fishing at Kippax may be surprised to spot a mannequin, sat in a chair with an imitation gun, placed on one of the islands.
No Stan the president hasn't lost the plot! It's actually part of the criteria that has to be met before a cormorant license can be considered. The mind boggles!
Nets have also been placed around the margins of the stock pond to protect the young fish and a number of new trees are to be planted to provide more shelter.
KNOTFORD
The gate at the top of the waterworks road is now in use and cars can be taken through and down towards the lagoon.
There is a combination lock on the gate and members can obtain the code from the office at Leeds anglers club or by contacting the venues watchers. Phone numbers for the watchers should be on a sign at Knotford.
The place is fishing pretty well and has been quite busy, there were 13 bivvies on over the bank holiday weekend.
MOOR MONKTON
The venue is finally a Leeds property, the transaction completing earlier this month.
Stan Jefferies ( president of Leeds), said a special thankyou to Graham Park ( general secretary), for all his hard work in procuring the pools on our behalf. I know it wasn't straight forward, so well done Graham!
The venue has been fishing very well with a winning weight of 232lb recorded last weekend.
Work has taken place to improve the onsite building and new Leeds dasa signs will be going up soon.
BLACKER DAM
After a new member, who lives near to and fishes the venue, kindly volunteered to bailiff the pond, Leeds accepted his offer. So Blacker dam has a new watcher!
While on the subject, book checks have taken place at Knotford, Sandwath and Wintersett. All books and permits were correct.
SPECIAL MENTION
I know this might not be a name forum users will necessarily be familiar with, but I think this deserves a mention. Eddie Harrison, you can see his name in the list of officials in your yearbook, after 50 years of being a Leeds member, has commemorated the occasion by personally donating a new trophy bearing his name. To be fished for over the clubs matches on a points basis. A very kind gesture, just shows the kind of people we actually have running our association for us!
MEMBERSHIP
Book sales, attached 483, unattached 945, total 1428. That's up by 168 on last year at the same time.
Moor Monkton permits sold so far 144 and night permits sold are Knotford 61 and Wintersett 26.
Not a very long meeting, so that's about it!
Eddie.
