anyone had any luck plopping a big black slug under a willow?
I try it occasionally, for variety, on a small river like the Nidd. Not had a bite with them yet though.

I've not tried it myself Nige but every time I see one I think about it. If you want to catch a few slugs just leave the top off your hemp bait box . . They love it. I was talking to a lad last night during one of my two casts trip to the Nidd and he was telling me he fished the Swale the other night, caught a big signal crayfish and decided to chop it up. Put a piece on the hook and 5 minutes later had an 8 pound Barbel on the bank

When we were at Smeatons it rained for half an hour the first evening, Craig (avin1) plucked a slug that had come out to play, straight on the hook and had a chub immediately!

Eddie Nice one, this is now one of my targets for the summer. Might even arrive at the river with no bait one of these days just for a challenge!

Slugs horrible slimy things that crawl all over my fishing gear In my lock up, It may be like fort knox but those slimy swines can sniff out a tiny grain of groundbait or the odd pellet a mile away. Although my latest weapon against the enemy SALT seems to have slowed there gallop a good sprinkling on there patrol route sorts the little swines out Just out of curiosity you understand but how do you go about impaling one on a hook, surely there a bit slippy and squidgie for banding

I used a pair of forceps to hold the slug then pulled a size 8 hook through it, hope that helps don't need to use fingers lol!!!
