Had a go at Easedike yesterday with old mate Reg who despite being 76yrs old is probably fitter than me and he needed to be as we went downstream all the way to the end of the length. What a jungle especially where the electric fence prevented cattle getting down to the river. I must have beat a path down the bank in half a dozen places only to find it unfishable when I got to the water. Eventually, some 3 hours or so after arriving, I dropped into a nice swim and laid on with a worm whilst I recovered from my exertions. 2 nice Perch in 2 casts was the result and a smaller sample later. On the way down I'd spotted 5 Barbel in a swim so resolved to fish that as we worked our way back. As I made my way back towards that swim I disturbed an Otter on my bank which quickly swam away across the river, by the time I got my phone out it was a little distant so not too clear on the video. Of course by the time I reached my objective the only other angler on the stretch other than Reg and I was fishing it and had just had a 7lb'er so I dropped in above and managed a modest Grayling on trotted maggot. Not a lot of fish (Reg had a 4lb'ish Pike on a plug) but learnt quite a bit.

Nice perch. Sounds like predator city down there.
Why does Bra1n and Reg make me think of Monty Python's Life of Brian?

Nice perch. Sounds like predator city down there. Spotted quite a few signs of Otters up in the jungle, spraints and slides, so I wasn't surprised to see one they're not a new phenomenon at Easedike

Very nice looking fish-ive spent many days at Easdike- we all know the fish are there but its a challenge to find them- ive fished the top length just before the bend- on the shingle bank - wading and centrepin in hand- had some good days but more fustrating ones than good. There are terrific looking swims downstream but ive only fished the shallow water above the first small island. The walk is a real challenge though. Still love the place-seen many big pike around the beck at the bottom of the " Mamouth hill ". Any tips greatly appreciated, im going on thurs/friday.

Went on Sunday morning for a few hours, it desperately needs a flush through. Had a cracking 1lb 8oz perch & a few bits. There are big fish here but it is hard work, the stretch looks great but I'm sure the fish are not there in numbers. It hasn't been hammered by the look of the banks and I can't believe my tactics wouldn't get bites/fish if they were there. I fished this stretch a lot about 5 years ago, managed a double figure barbel and numerous overs but if you got 2 in a session you were doing well. It's a case of putting in the time here, no magic formula. There are a lot more fish on the Taddy length, still it's nice to try somewhere different.
