Nice story in the Angling Times about a man aged 80 who has been fishing all his life and has only now caught his first barbel.

Mind you he did have a bit of help. Hey Rushy perhaps you can sell tickets for the local OAP's to come out and learn how to catch. As I'm over 50 do I qualify for a SAGA discount?
This story epitomises why those amongst us who haven't yet had a decent barbel, or any barbel for that matter, should never give up trying.

Ha ha !!! The way I've been performing lately I could do with a few lessons myself. The temptation to switch to a tip rod , 7 pound line and a big piece of bread flake is increasing by the outing I'm taking the granddaughter to see Donald Duck and his mates in Paris this weekend so that's my fishing done until next week . . . There's not a river in Eurodisney is there

Don't think so but if you can keep the grandchildren occupied in the back of the car it's just a short 5 and a half hour drive south to a village called Sarlat on the river Le Lot. I went there years ago and did the kayak trip down the river for about 10 kilometres. The water was about four feet deep, mixture of medium flowing/fast water over boulders and slow eddies. Looking down I was gobsmacked to see literally hundreds and hundreds of barbel in shoals with many double figure fish. Vowed one day to go back with a rod and as yet I still haven't. Now that would be a good week end away.

The original post has no resemblance or connection whatsoever with the foul mouthed video clip posted by GCB. Shame on you for lowering yourself to such a low level. Children and adults alike do not want to hear this on a fishing forum. There is no place on this forum for such juvenile behavior. In addition political debate can be discussed in many other forums- this one is for fishing related matters.
May I suggest that offensive posts like the one above be removed by the moderator.

Johnboy66 please forgive me if you were offended by my post .As springer says these guys were class in my day but I understand this type of humour is not appreciated by everybody and it is probably time specific. I thought the point it was trying to make was how little of any meaning is actually said by people that use expletives every other word. As well as Peter Cook and Dudley Moore the Pythons were also a favourite. I really did hope you would find it as funny as I do. p.s is caretaker's family name Whitehouse ?
p.s when you set up your new forum make sure people use their full names as barbel fishing world, Bradford No1 etc do so no johnboy, springer, caretaker, avin, fulla etc

GCB I will except your apology,
for once you have listened to someone you may of hurt unintentionally
sometime I do feel old in my day I did know Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, but didn't watch a lot of there stuff.
I`m a decent guy really ask anyone on hear but can be a bit sensitive at times, I don't like falling out with people in any situation. I be good in the UN I sit on the fence and relate to both sides, I also like a good court case hearing both sides but sometime you take thinks a bit to far weather you mean to or not.
I also like a good banter as my old mate will know, love my fishing so that's why I`m on this forum, well I leave it there for now
JB.
