Hi All, Having served for 3 years on the committee of the Pike Anglers Club Of Great Britain you get to know certain things which make the club run better and one particular item was the ease of re-joining year after year.It was the idea of our General secretary Rob Murray to introduce membership using PayPAL. After a very short time of introducing this hassle free method of paying for your membership,we were inundated with members wanting to rejoin using this web-based payment method.I think in our last year of office, paypal accounted for 15-20% of renewals and new members. In this day and age nearly everyone has access to the internet in one form or another. This wouldn't determine me from rejoining the club as you have a brilliant selection of excellent waters you provide for your club members but would make life easier

hi rover, thanks for the advice we will look into it,as this is still a very new website we didn't know what to expect, the amount of business it has brought has exceeded expectations, the amount of information and the way it can be used can only be of benefit to all who read this site. Stan..

Hi Bob, you can send an application form(which you can get from this website), together with a cheque for payment of your yearbook to the membership office at the Anglers Club. The address is on the application form. As soon as the membership office receive the application and payment, they will issue your yearbook and post it out to you.

Gents,
I am a member of the club and own a company which designs payment integration for web sites (amongst other things). This is not an advertising post but I thought I may offer some opinions.
Paypal take quite a large fee for processing. A cheaper alternative may be to approach a bank for credit card merchant facilities. This would enable members to pay their fee's directly by credit/debit card online and also give permission for a recurring charge on a yearly basis, subject to both member and initial bank approval.
Such facilities usually cost around £20/month. On top of that you have processing charges of approximately 1.4% of the amount for credit cards, or a standard flat rate of approx 25p for debit cards. You can haggle to reduce these fee's, especially for low risks.
Paypals charges are considerably higher.
Integrating a payment gateway on a website is not particularly difficult and will reduce the administrative overhead, particularly if members wish to renew automatically.
Overall, in cost terms, I'd say tops of £50/month for the facility plus transaction charges, which will depend on how many transactions are required per month. There are deals if you do high volumes. You'd also need to contract a company called a PSP, who actually provision the payment gateway for you. Again, it's very simple to arrange and I can point you in the right direction for this.
Just throwing another idea into the pot.
Regards,
Martin

The only problem with this is for people who do not like using credit cards etc. Not all people have them or want them

I think the Paypal transaction charges would be around 3.4% + 0.20 GBP - So the transaction charge for a 2007 adult yearbook would be about 1.59 GBP.
I notice some clubs are even using Paypal to sell day tickets online!
