the york winter leaguewas cancelled too. 9 of us decided to have a knock up. All the best pegs below yhe a64 road bridge were taken, so we ended up in the boat canal that by -passes Naburn lock, it was actually flowing over the lock gates.A strange result, evrybody bar one had at least one bite, but colin hardy won with 7 bream and a TENCH,for 27-11 , I had a4lb bream, the rest just had single roach or eels

After a hard first match on milsey's winter league sun 28th, todays open run by Ian Bates was expected to be much the same, the river had dropped another 4in gone clear and the water temp had gone down a couple of degrees, "WHAT DO WE KNOW IT FISHED IT'S NUTS OFF" ;D 10 near double figure nets of roach on the pole and long rod an 8lb bream from 220 and every section won with over 8lb of red fins. 1st Kev Hartley 13lb 6oz 2nd Tony Hewson 11lb 12oz 3rd Jim Jordon 11lb 6oz 4th Scott Lister 10lb 10oz. It must be mid week syndrome i bet sundays yorks winter league on the same pegs will be a bag of nails.

Sun 22nd Feb, A proper bag up match the fish were spread through the sections and it makes you wonder if they are there all the time!! Andy Miller had 19-15 all roach pole to hand from the paddock, Kev Hartley was second with 15-04 all roach from middle linton, John Dunhill 14-14 of roach from linton top and Dave Pollit and Stan were joint 4th with 13-13 all roach and dace, in one section 12lb was only good enough for 4th and there was a double figure catch of perch from linton bottom. happy days!!

hi guys, this weeks match fished well again with kieth mitch winning with 12lbs 10oz from 285,pete hamilton was second with 9lbs 15oz 282,and big andy bradley 3rd with 9lbs 4oz 4th 267,and the reason for this mesage was john dunnhill with 7lbs 5oz from 220,john had some good roach on the pole but lost a double figure cat fish,he had it in his net twice but it sliped out ,archie was on his way from peg 219,with a bigger net when the hook pulled out ,shame as he would have won as he did saturdays match when he had 10lbs 2oz of roach from 282 , a few big fish have been lost in that area in recent weeks, another one yesterday in 227,it makes you wonder where they have come from,i wonder if they are from the same pond as all the little chub that have shown up over the last 3 or 4 weeks. on that point i went on tuesday to hunters lodge and stocked 51 chub and 37 barbel to 10 inch long, its part of a long term stocking plan over the next 5 years to see if we can get the big fish population back to what it used to be,i am not expecting to see any barbel for 2 to 3 years but as they get bigger they will start to show i am sure.if there are some pred anglers with no task out there heres one, go down to the bungalows and catch a double figure cat and send us the pics.stan..p/s i had 53 fish for 5lbs 13oz no good but a good days fishing.s
