the size of fish to one side, using 8lb line on sett is not safe because of the amount of weed etc, it would put fish at risk.

I'm somewhat conflicted by this post. Part of me wants to respect all the effort the regulars put into finding their fish and catching what they have. But another part of me, looking at this from the club side, wants many more members choosing to fish Wintersett to justify its cost to the society. In the past the club has given up waters because they thought they were under used, and the money could be better spent elsewhere. Only to to come in for criticism from a number of regulars who had been fishing the venue, but keeping all results to themselves to avoid "competition". BOF "mmm!" Food for thourght. I don't know much about Sett but I do know times are changing. More and more are choosing carp fishing as their pass time. And it's "a different world" on the banks and forums to what it is in the mag's and DVD's. "Should we as anglers step out of the dark ages and put fish safty first, rather than whether a new angler on our water will cause us to catch one or two less fish?"

Hi new to this site, not so much carp related but thought would reply any way. i live round the corner from wintersett and walk my dog near there nearly ever week.
Just been round today and theres a few pike anglers on, I'm wanting to give it a go for both pike and silver fish in the next few weeks. Any one been recently?
Theres always car parked next to bottney next to it, but unsure how thats fishing? Has anyone been on the other res aswell?
