I agree. A big no no for driving around the lake. As miller said, a barrow is fine and I agree with moortown that the state the bank would end up all rutted in the wet weather.
Just a slightly bigger car park with gated access is all is needed.
Thanks, frim, for the good news. Now let's just be patient!!

hello all
i am new to the forum but after speaking to some guys from leeds asa @ knotford i was asked to come on and air my views as a regular in there
i agree that there should NOT be a road around the lake, however, in winter, barrowing gear round is a problem due to hoof marks in the gorund left by the horses which get water in and therefore create difficulties for anglers using barrows, would in be an idea to harden/strengthen the path around the east bank/spit so it can be used easily all year round...?
i also would feel happier if there is a gate on the car park.

Hi Frim,
It was good too meet and chat to you at the lake when you popped down the other day (guy in the car park you talked to) I spoke to a few of the lads that have fished it for years and they too where not keen on the driving around idea at all it has only started to look good again in last few years from the spit been put in.

Have you mangaed to put forward the proposal about the gates and carpark at Knotford yet, if so, what has the outcome been?
Cheers,
Dan

hi dan, steves in canada at the mo,some plans are been looked at,we are thinking of building a car park area through the the car park with a lockable gate on for members, remember its a day ticket fishery so we still need a car park for visitors, also the posibility of a car park on the bank between the far side and the river, lets know your views.stan..

Hi Stan, thank for the response.
Steve's certainly the luck one.
The only reservation I have with having two cars parks is security. Obviously one will be locked but it will need to be totally secure (from all areas), otherwise it defeats the object of having a gated car park if all and sundry will have some sort of access to it. I'm not too keen on having a car park at the far side of the lake, nor do I think most of the regulars there will.
Hopefully there'll be plenty of constructive feedback.
Keep up the good work,
Dan

how about a small car park for say 5 cars at the end of east bank and maybe one nr water works as small as east bank one and just a secure gate on all 3 then access is available on all banks without having a cardiac arrest inducing hike through wet mud with a barrow full ov gear

I think there should just be a simple extension to the current car park.
This would be much easier and cheaper, maybe keep the current car park as it is and have the extension a secure area for members or night anglers with the lock and gate.
It doesn't have to go anywhere other than along the first bank as if it does it will soon turn into a mass of bog and cause more problems with people getting stuck and cutting up the surrounding area of the lake.
