O.k. Maybe i should have said raising concerns about the state of the pike and asking questions about knoties water quality, but like most threads it's evolved and incorporates the communication element. Iam not having a pop at the committee, quite the opposite. Fully understand the work they do couldn't agree more stormcheaser.

Hi Wally
Don't know were you get your information mate but to say we have tripled the price of a night permit is rubbish. We originally increased the price from £52 to £104 and because of comment made on this site reconsidered the decision and agreed to charge £75 a 50% increase not 300%.
I am currently putting together costings to make Knotford a mixed fishery by stocking 1000's of silver fish so that it is available and viable to all members but this has to be discussed with other officials before action can or cannot be taken.
Regards Graham

It sounds like a good idea should you get the go ahead for it, and it is good to hear that people are being listened to and the club is taking action. all the best

The rivers are cleaner - which has seen an explosion of trout (and grayling) - and this is directly related to the numbers of silverfish in our rivers - but far from it being the water quality - its the predation of the trout! The Aire on our length (saltaire) is rife with spotty vermin to the detriment of the silvers, but this is down to the aggressive nature of the greedy trout - next time you catch one (over 12" obviously) when you gut it, examine the contents of its gut - I've had 2 tiny chublets roach fry and a dace all in one trout before!! This from a length which only has the odd pike and a few perch! So your argument id suggest is half right Binner, to suggest its purely water quality however is a very simplified view..... The silverfish in No1's Knotford thrived, still do - despite trying to remove them, I would think the water quality is exactly the same - i'm afraid the skinny pike and the lack of silvers is lack of stocking.....No1 stocked theirs very well and the place thrived - AND the pike are fatter

Rushy if you need a volunteer for meeting on 29th I don't mind going. It's not a huge journey and ive been to anglers club many times before. I could take my colouring book and a crayon to make a few notes and pop them on forum. Glad to help if needed. Eddie

Pmsl, reading some a these comments on these forums baffle me sometimes,,, Silvers don't like gin clear water Pmsl,,, Pike killed all the the silvers Pmsl, Take it none a you boys taken a walk on the wild side then and fished bradford no1 knotty Rammed with silvers rammed with pike rammed with weed and on most weekends rammed with anglers,,,,, it's the same water quality, Those of you that don't know they were built as a flood plane years ago to cope with excess water, in fact the water quality that good, you could bottle it and sell it with delboy at Peckham springs Lack of fish through our freindly cormorant is your problem seen them now for 18 months working the life outa Leeds Knotford yes they come on Bradford but it gets its head took off by the 25 anglers there with spod, so they move on to less busy waters,,,, As for silvers not surviving in clear gin water,,, visit Knotford on a summers day ill set u up on a 2metre whip with half pint a maggot if you don't get 100 silvers, ill snap my rods,,,,, Tight lines lads

oh maan Geoff I see your making friends on the forum yet again ill never understand you in a million years I guess deep down you are an alright bloke you seem to be helpful with shane and rusty helping them with the art of fly fishing but your attitude to others on here is out of order I hope you had more patience with your students but you can not take your teaching methods away from the classroom and use them with adults out in the real world everyone has different views that's what makes the world the place it is just accept that not everyone views things like you if that's how king billabong feels about trout then that's his feelings its not wrong and its not right but that's how it is if we all thought the same we would be like robots I see you as c3po from star wars fame he was a bit camp only kidding chill out Geoff and remember life is short this I have come to realise myself make love not war
